Café Muscat is bringing a little piece of Israel to New York’s kosher scene. Muscat is reminiscent of Israeli sidewalk cafes, with snippets of conversation in Hebrew and strong aromas of Nescafe drifting through the air. The Israeli owners of Café Muscat, which has two locations (one in Midtown Manhattan and one in Queens), worked hard to capture the vibe of their homeland without compromising on ambiance or quality of food. The soft beige and wood walls give the restaurant a warmth and comfort that makes dining there a delight every time, while the artwork on the walls will make you feel as though you’re dining in an Israeli art gallery.
The Israeli-Italian menu has a lot to offer. Try the Shakshuka Morning for an authentic Israeli breakfast, or the Bourekas Sabich from the Brunch menu – cheese bourekas stuffed with spicy harissa, eggplant and a hardboiled egg. Start your meal with the Bulgarian Eggplant appetizer, half an eggplant baked with cream sauce, mushrooms, black olives, purple onion, parmesan cheese and a bread crumb crust. The Muscat Salad is a fan favorite, with fried Haloumi cheese on a bed of mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, walnuts, roasted eggplant and yams. They have an extensive menu of paninis, wraps, and ciabbatas, like the Goat Cheese Ciabbatta, with goat cheese, roasted eggplant, peppers, olive spread and pesto. Café Muscat features a Vegan menu by Shirley Bar, as well as a menu of “Oreganatto”, a type of Greek salad topped with stir-fried vegetables.

The specials at Café Muscat change almost daily, so keep an eye out! Café Muscat also does on and off premise catering in their Queens location, so give them a call when you’re planning your next event.
