ABOUT Six Thirteen

Six Thirteen restaurant in Stamford, Connecticut is your home for kosher comfort food. Even though it's a thoroughly modern American bistro, the name is to signify those who are in the know, that it is, in fact, a kosher establishment that follows the laws of the Torah and is, therefore, certified by the Orthodox Union. Six Thirteen, currently owned by Moshe Morrison, has been open since 2014 and is staffed with members of the community. Because everyone is from the neighborhood, all the guests are treated like family and welcomed joyously into their "second dining room."

One of the delicacies in the Six Thirteen dining room is the signature 613 special which includes corned beef, pastrami, and beef "bacon," layered with coleslaw, caramelized onions, with mustard and chipotle mayo, served on a club roll. Chef Matthew Rotunda, a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and proud Connecticut native, develops a 16 oz prime rib steak from a beautiful cut of meat served with sides of sautéed spinach and mashed potatoes. The meat melts like butter of the bone.

Complete your meal with a S'mores Torte, a flourless chocolate cake with toasted marshmallows, or a Kentucky High Day Pie, made with Belgian chocolate, walnuts, and Kentucky bourbon. Six Thirteen creates new specialty cocktails from old favorites such as; the Bees Knees, with bourbon, lemon juice, and honey, or the twist on a French 75 - gin, cucumbers, and mint.

In addition to the specialty cocktails, you can also enjoy a number of wines and craft beers at a table or at the bar that hosts five full-sized TVs broadcasting your favorite sports game. If you can't tear yourself away from the bar because you don't want to miss a moment of the action, Six Thirteen offers portable speakers at each table, available upon request. Moshe is from Bergen County, New Jersey and, upon visiting Stamford, fell in love with the place and does the reverse commute every day to serve others at his restaurant. Moshe has been working in the restaurant and catering industry for 35 years and truly loves being involved in the community, he says, "People don't go to restaurants because they're hungry, people go out to eat to be taken care of, and that is the reason we're here."
