With its soft blue abstract décor, you’ll instantly feel at home when you step into Mint. The menu, developed by Chef Mark Strausman of the famed Fred’s, Campagna and Coco Pazzo, was originally strictly vegan, but has since been altered by the owners to include fish and dairy as to better serve the community’s needs. And serve the needs it does! Mint’s tables, beautifully set with fresh flowers and white fabric tablecloths, are always full, crowded with expertly plated dishes, fresh juices, signature cocktails, and more.
The Ahi Tuna Burger, served on a bun with sliced tomatoes, lettuce, Napa cabbage salad, and chipotle mayo with shoestring fries, has become a fast favorite since the addition of fish to the Mint Brooklyn menu. Also popular is Mint’s Tostada Nachos, corn tortillas with black beans, jack cheese, salsa and sour cream. For a vegans and culinary adventurers, the Soba Bowl, a pasta dish made with Japanese buckwheat Soba noodles, coconut, peanut sauce and Asian slaw comes highly recommended. If you are hesitant to eat vegan, try the Spicy Seitan Buffalo wings with pistachio blue vegan sour cream. It’s a dish that’ll make you want to turn vegan.
Unlike many other dairy restaurants in the Kings Highway area, Mint offers a full bar – including wine, beer and cocktails. For the health minded diner, the juices at Mint are made with the freshest fruits, vegetables and herbs and are fresh-pressed to order. Highly recommended is the Spicy Lemonade, made with fresh lemon, apple, ginger, and cayenne as well as the Ocean Parkway Sunrise, made with orange, grapefruit and fresh strawberries, a beautiful drink served in a mason jar and garnished with pieces of fresh fruit.
