Bienvenido a Argentina! Evita Steakhouse has just recently joined the Chicago Kosher Restaurant scene and is offering an array of homey dishes one might find bubbling over a hot stove or roasting inside an oven somewhere in a kitchen in Argentina. Evita is located in Chicago, wedged between Peterson Park and Lincolnwood.
Lots of brick, hard wood and warm lighting surround you as you step into the chicly rustic dining space. The mood: sophisticatedly relaxed. The friendly and attentive owner, Michael Barnatan, is a native Argentinian and excited and passionate to introduce you to his homeland's authentic flavors and delicacies. He plans to frequently switch up the menu in order to cover all the distinct flavors from the various regions in the large country.
The Chefs, Argentinian born-and-raised Joaquin, and Gustavo, also a South American native, work diligently to highlight the flavors being showcased in each dish. Favorite appetizers are the stout and herb braised Short Ribs, Argentinian spiced Empenadas, house-made Chorizo with potato cubes in a delectable spicy sauce, as well as the Sopa de Carne - a Beef and Vegetable soup - an intensely flavor-packed star that shouldn't be missed. Popular Entrees include the most classic dish of Buenos Aires, Milanesa con fritas - Breaded veal with sunny side up eggs and french fries; the Costillar al horno, braised long ribs served garlic and red pepper rice; and the Bife Gaucho, a 20 oz bone in steak served with any appetizer of your choice. The authentically Argentinian Chimichuri sauce is fantastic and featured with many of the dishes as a dipping sauce.
For dessert, the Churro and Helado, a churro bowl filled with ice cream and drizzled in chocolate and caramel is an obvious no-brainer, as this is the only kosher Churro made in Chicago!! A warm, seasonal fruit-filled Pastelito Hojaldre pastry (turnover) with Syrah wine reduction and topped with ice cream is a another fine way to end the meal.
There is a beautiful, spacious room upstairs, perfect for large parties and other events. Alcohol will be available soon, as well.
Nice settings. Service was great. We ordered couple of stakes, they were cooked to perfection. Were served with sauces, that I assume should provide flavor, and they did. However since steak themselves had no flavor whatsoever, there was not even a hint of salt, they needed a lot more of the sauce to compensate. Will definitely go back. Hope owners are reading this and will take note. Would love to see them succeed.
the food was amazing, and the service was awesome. it was a breath of fresh air. unfortunately in Chicago some of the kosher establishment feel they doing you a favor by serving you food. here at evita I felt welcome and it felt very warm from the beginning thanks evita and good luck
