Walk into Cork & Slice, and it's like you have just stepped into a five star restaurant in the heart of Italy. Owners and brothers Ed & Boris Safaniev wanted to open a restaurant that offered traditional yet innovative Italian cuisine. At the heart of it, Cork & Slice is an American fare restaurant, heavily influenced by Italian cuisine. Their executive Chef, Gregg Lauletta is a Native Long Islander, with a Swedish mother, and an Italian father. The award winning Chef became chef de partie to Gabriel Kreuther of The Ritz Carlton’s Atelier and sous chef to Alfred Portale at New York’s Renowned Gotham Bar and Grill. He has been featured on NBC, CBS, as well as in the New York Times, Newsday, and many other publications. After 20 years of working in some of New York’s finest restaurants, Chef Lauletta was invited to be the head chef of Cork & Slice. He uses his fine culinary skills to compose exquisite dishes, using only the freshest, seasonal, high quality ingredients, thus resulting in one of most delicious Kosher Italian restaurants in Cedarhurst, Long Island.
The restaurant offers a rustic atmosphere, with their distressed wood tables, beautiful exposed brick walls and urban lighting. Diners can be seated at either the front of the restaurant or the bar, where they can watch the chefs at work, making homemade, fresh pizzas. They also have an upstairs dining room, with a modern fire place included, that sits up to 70 people for extra seating and parties.
