Main House BBQ located in The Mill Basin section of Brooklyn, is not your typical kosher eatery. Opening with a bang in November of 2016, they have been putting smiles on the faces of their customers, serving delicious smoked meats. Main House BBQ has a homey feel, the red chairs and wooden tables covered in picnic blanket- type table cloth provide a snug and cozy ambiance. Owner Richie Grin and friends spent their summers barbecuing upstate New York and as they got older they realized there was a need for good kosher barbecue in the neighborhood.
Smoking meats first started out as a hobby for the owners. But, after traveling to various parts of the country to learn and understand better how it’s done in every other region, the hobby was put to reality, and Main House opened its doors.Be sure to check out the chicken wings, which can be served plain, or with spicy sauce for a delicious appetizer. You won’t believe how large each wing is! The beef ribs are also another popular dish, served as an appetizer. For a main, order the brisket sandwich that’s piled high with grilled onions, coleslaw, & Russian dressing served on a brioche bun. Another great sandwich is the ‘Sloppy Yosef’, a delicious twist on the American classic 'Sloppy Joe' sandwich. Order yourself a side of their signature shmaltzy mashed potatoes, served with caramelized onions. They have the perfect smooth, yet lumpy consistency, and made with brisket fat to get that creamy texture.
The goal of Main House BBQ is to continue the tradition of serving barbecue and reuniting old friends to make new memories. It is all centered around a new style of BBQ that pays homage to the various indigenous barbecue cultures, as influenced by the global Jewish Diaspora, that just happens to be glatt kosher.
