ABOUT Gourmandises de France

Walk into Gourmandises de France and it really does feel like you have stepped off the streets of Manhattan’s Upper East Side and into an artisanal Parisian bakery and cafe, the kind of place where you wake up in the morning, go down to grab your baguette and croissant and then return later for lunch or dinner. This is exactly the kind of ambience owner David wanted to portray when he opened the authentic French bakery in October 2017.

A passionate food aficcionado and decades owner of a successful wholesale pastry, cakes and bread business in France with distribution throughout Europe, the Gourmandises de France founder took a pleasure trip to New York City, that trip led to subsequent trips and a desire to make New York his home. Seeing a lack of fine French pastries, cakes, breads and other delicacies that are both kosher and keep the uniqueness of French quality and taste, he decided to bring his knowledge and recipes to New York City.

All Gourmandises de France creations are based on traditional French recipes and baking techniques. Using only the finest, non GMO, kosher certified ingredients. All products are free of artificial flavoring and are fully pareve. In order to keep that “French” flavor some ingredients are imported from France.

While they always have croissants, French bread, mille feuille and eclairs, as with any bakery you need to pop in there daily as they have a wide range of ever changing fresh products and challah for Shabbat that are sinfully delicious. And because all products are mostly made with only naturally occurring sugars, they're not  only delicious but almost guilt free.

[continued above, right]

As well as baked goods Gourmandise de France has a full menu served all day. For breakfast pick up some La Colombe coffee with your viennoiseries. Try a French baguette sandwich for lunch and for dinner go with the salmon Provençale avec ses petits légumes, salmon baked in the Provençale fashion and served with potatoes and garden vegetables. And of course don't forget to look in the pastry cases for dessert!!

With fresh products being made all day this is definitely a place worth visiting more than once. Gourmandise de France presents to you traditional French food that is both certified kosher and dairy free.
