After the success of Spoons on 13th Avenue, owner Tzvi Chait decided to take the popular cafe chain to Flatbush in 2011. Compared to the Boro Park location, Spoons on “J” boasts a more modern sophisticated look with a blue and brown color scheme. Though they do share the same menu as their sister restaurant, their Flatbush location was opened up to ‘wow everybody’ with its vintage yet fashionable décor.
Spoons is a cozy café right off Nostrand Avenue with a menu that is appropriate for any meal throughout the day. Emanating with a charming glow, it projects an atmosphere of relaxation and tranquility. Spoons is a fully equipped café with a spacious eating area suitable for the afternoon rush or for a dinner party. It is an ideal grab-n-go spot where customers are encouraged to stay for a leisurely breakfast, casual lunch; or a light yet satisfying dinner. When the restaurant gets busy, there is a beautiful back room where one can relax. The private room is also used for parties and private events.
Easy on the wallet and gentle on the nerves, Spoons is the perfect café to bring a close friend or confidante for a pleasant brunch. Their “Avocado Salad” and “Caesar Salad,” favorites in their Boro Park location, have become popular there as well. The varied menu includes fresh sushi, pasta with homemade sauces, creative preparations of fresh fish which is brought in daily, wraps, sandwiches and panini, and inventive salads. You can enjoy breakfast here all day long. Pancakes, overstuffed jumbo omelettes, and french toast are popular choices. They also have a full homemade pastry line which complements their 13 different types of hot drinks available on the menu. Spoons offers quick delivery and curbside pick up as well as a last minute dinner option or picnic.

I have had the good fortune to eat at Spoons in Flatbush several times. Its location is great -- right on Avenue J and East 29th Street. We tried several different dishes the few times we were there. The wraps and paninis are delicious and flavorful. If you like cheese, like me, you will have a hard time choosing between all the delectable choices! The salads are fresh and yummy. When we were there for my birthday, I had to take the cheesecake dessert to go because I was stuffed from all the yummy food. The dishes are nice sized, which is great. I would definitely go there again for a special occasion or just a day or night out with friends!
I had the oppotunity a while ago to eat at Spoons in Flatbush. Spoons is a dairy and sushi restaurant located on Nostrand Avenue. My mother and I were looking into the restaurant for a potential venue for a family gathering. My mother ordered fish and I ordered pancakes. My mother was very satisfied with her fish including the degree of cooking as well as the choice of bread and side vegetables. The staff was extremely accommodating to my mother and her self imposed restrictions. They even offered us some food on the house because there was a delay in her meal as the restaurant had just recently opened. We enjoyed our meal and would definitely visit again.
The food is really good here, it is not over stated, perfectly seasoned. The chef clearly understands how to layer flavors. I also really like the ambiance, the staff is knowledgeable and very friendly without being overbearing. It is a place you can an associate to, and feel like you are definitely not going to be embarrassed. i am definitely a fan and return customer, the kind of place you really don't get sick of.
I've been here a couple of times and I must say, I simply love the decor and service. My first two times going there a young, good looking fellow named Edward served me and he was phenomenal so now I just request him. I think I love him....
