SIDE DISHES:
Food for residents of Jersey City
We were all shaken to the core when news broke out of the despicable, cowardly, heinous targeted murder of those in a Jersey City kosher supermarket. This from my friend, David G. Greenfield, who is the CEO of Met Council. He writes: "The only kosher supermarket in Jersey City is gone. So, we at Met Council partnered with Mayor Stephen Fulop to bring free kosher food from our warehouse to residents of Jersey City today." Click here for the whole post.

"Douglas Miguel Rodriguez did not always make sandwiches and stock shelves at a kosher supermarket in Jersey City.
Thousands of miles away, in Guayaquil, Ecuador, his hometown, Mr. Rodriguez was a middle-class family man who worked as a financial manager for an insurance company, his brother, William Rodriguez Barzola, said. But he lost his job when the company went under and Mr. Rodriguez, struggling financially, moved to New Jersey with his wife and daughter. His lack of English proved a barrier to a white-collar job in his adopted home, his brother said, so he had to settle for whatever he could get to pay his bills."- New York Times
A GoFundMe campaign, set up to benefit the family of Miguel Rodriguez has almost reached it's goal. The funds raised will help his family cope with the loss of their dear father and husband. Click here to see more on our Facebook page and for a link

One of our members Chana Chava Mizrahi wrote "...I want to share a really incredible experience we had last Sunday at Upper Crust in Lakewood. My husband and I had just come from my husbands base to meet my grandmother for dinner. Hubby was in full Air Force uniform. As soon as we walked in the door, a Jewish waiter was all over us. He was very excited to see the uniform, and was like “WOW, that’s actually a real uniform!!! You actually serve!!! And you’re frum!!! That’s amazing!!! Thank you so much!!!!” He was super attentive throughout our meal, coming by every so often to make sure we were enjoying (we were! Their food is delicious) and ask if there was anything else he could do to make our meal any better. As we were finishing, he brought a HUGE dessert and told us it was on the house, and thank you so much for your service. It was so nice and felt so good to be so appreciated! My husband then went to pay our bill, and a frum man on line to pay HIS bill saw my husband in uniform, and approached him to shake his hand and thank him for his service. He then paid for our entire meal, including the tip!!!! It was a truly heartwarming incredible experience, at a great restaurant. I think I should make my husband wear his full uniform from now on when we go out "

This is a crazy and remarkable story. A fire emergency broke out a wedding hall's kitchen last night and forced all the guests to evacuate. Happen to be that the Chickies Food Truck was at the wedding, setting up to provide the guests some snacks at what was supposed to have been at the end of the night.
But with hundreds of guests without any food, the Chickies Food Truck ramped it up and proceeded to cater the entire dinner for the guests.
Here was the scene that night, as the crowd was eating, enjoying and they even danced outside of the hall in honor of the chosson and kallah.

SOUTH FLORIDA CANCELLATIONS and NO SHOWS
It's unfortunately that time of the year when South Florida restaurants have to deal with the ugly side of the industry where customers feel they have a right to make reservations and cancel them at the last minute or not even show up.For the love of God, if you have double booked a reservation or if you know you won't be able to make a reservation, do not let it just fly by, please call up and cancel ASAP with as much as time as possible. Click here to see the full post.
