Chef Jose "Tony" Guzman, long time sous chef of Abigael's Restaurant, was killed when he was tragically hit by a train the night of 2/16/22 in New York. Many of us knew Tony well. I was speaking with him every couple of months for the past 2 years finding him part time jobs and he was always soft spoken, respectful and appreciative. The family is in awe and has deep appreciation for everyone on our FB group for their good wishes and raising over $5000 to cover funeral costs. We send sincere condolences to his family and hope that his memory will be a blessing on them. We spotted an upcoming Carvel and Cinnabon store opening on Kings Highway and East 13th in Brooklyn. Across from Sunflower Cafe. No official confirmation yet on supervision, but this comes on the heels of news that the new location on Coney Island Avenue and Foster Avenue will be kosher under Chof-K. QUEENS
The name comes from the owner's name Malkiel and Malki Palki is the cute nickname his wife calls him. I like this place already. I recently learned about this restaurant from a member on our Facebook Group. So anyone who lives in Rego Park and surrounding areas, this is your chance to support a new kosher restaurant in the area. Besides sushi, they serve salads, wraps, juices, milkshakes. The high end restaurant SALT will be building a wine library in collaboration with Herzog Wine Cellars that should be completed by March. They are also doing a private label bottle of wine with Herzog, called Four Barrels, where they handpicked their own blend and it will be produced strictly for SALT Steakhouse. Manhattan based Modern Bread and Bagel on the Upper West Side of Manhattan is opening a location in the Los Angeles Valley. Construction is under way and they have a target opening for May 2022. It will be under IKC, same supervision as the current location. The Los Angeles location will be in a really nice area with tons of retail shopping. FEEL GOOD STORY
