First reported by patch.com, Cho-Sen Restaurant Group owner, Neil Wallin was hoping to keep this under wraps a little longer but once you go in front of the community board, everyone hears about it. Below is what was reported. Neil tells me that are looking to open Fall 2022: The Upper East Side's next restaurant openings will include a to-go Cho-Zen (1553 Second Ave., between East 80th and 81st streets). Replacing the shuttered Thai restaurant Jaiya will be a new restaurant by Neil Wallin, founder of the mini-chain "Cho-Sen" — a series of kosher Chinese restaurants with three locations in Forest Hills, Great Neck, and Lawrence, Long Island. Serving what Wallin described only as "Asian food," it will occupy three floors of the walk-up building — though only the ground level will be open to the public, with the cellar and second floor housing the kitchen and offices, respectively. Cho-Zen will handle its own delivery, according to a representative — satisfying concerns from CB8 members who object to the influx of delivery drivers from companies like Grubhub and Seamless. After 7 decades (wow!) serving the kosher community in Brooklyn and beyond, Chiffon's Kosher Cake Center will be closing its doors this Friday. A newly renovated bakery will open before Yom Tov. It is very tough for Esther and Levi (owners of 22 years) but we wish them much hatzlacha and thank them for their sweet baked goods and hard work for all these years, especially waking up 2:30am in the morning to get the bakery open. Personally, Chiffons has been part of my family's lives for over 40 years. My mother in law tells me she used to visit them when they were on Coney Island Avenue in the 70s. I love a challenge but this was a tough one. On, off and on again. I didn't know if anyone would show up last minute. Well, they showed and we ate well. I did it because you never know what tomorrow brings. You never want to wait till the next time. Live in the moment, be in the moment. People were looking forward to this and once the Weather Gods gave us some hope, we grabbed it. Huge shout out to Chef Suzi Susan Kaitz, for not just being a great chef, but a great friend. And equally amazing and a wonderful friend, Esther T Anzaroot. Without them, I couldn't do the BBQ on my own. I texted both of them at 1pm and said, it stopped raining, sun is coming out, would you want to do this and they both said, let's do it.

A U-Haul truck driver crashed right into Giant Bagel, on Rockaway Turnpike on 6/15/22. The driver has reportedly fled the scene. The store incurred heavy damages. As you may have seen or heard, the new Steakhouse which was supposed to open 6/14/22, suffered some damage. I spoke to the restaurant and Baruch Hashem no one was hurt. Snap's Kosher in Lakewood has had to put a sad but necessary policy in place in which they will only serve 16 year old boys and younger on Thursday for takeout and not dine in (unless accompanied by an adult). It seems many of these kids can’t behave and are being very rowdy and they are scaring the customers who are walking out. It has gotten so bad that cops had to be there the last 4 Thursday nights.
