Catering and related services: Effective immediately, Six Points Kosher Events is no longer operating. It is clear to me that, if anything, people felt pressured to use Six Points for events, even though there were cheaper options. The last thing I want is for people to waste money out of a sense of obligation to a local business. We aren’t interested in replicating what exists elsewhere, and there wasn’t enough demand for the high-end product we were offering. (Frankly, we also didn't always do a great job. But we could have fixed that if it were necessary. It isn't.)
C&R Kitchen: As of Monday, September 12, 2016, we are closing C&R Kitchen. We are going to repurpose that lower level as dairy and pareve kitchen space for The Dairy Café. Sunday, September 11th, will be our last night of service. Make reservations for Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, which will be our last three days of operation.
The Dairy Café: As of Friday, September 2nd, Desiree Tolbert has taken over management of The Dairy Café. She will be retraining employees, improving ordering systems and speed of service, adding to the grab-and-go selections, and fine-tuning the menu for your culinary delight.
The Dairy Express: The upstairs of 370 Montgomery (the old C&R) will be reopened, in the coming months, as The Dairy Express, a place to pick up large pizza orders, to sit down for a quick slice of pizza, or to sample our baked goods. Think of it as a reincarnation of Six Points Bakery, but with pizza too. If you want ambiance and selection, you should still go to the Dairy Café. If you want simplicity and speed, the Dairy Express is where you should go.
C&R Tavern and Market: All hands are on-deck for the design, construction, and development of the new C&R Tavern and Market. Instead of reusing the interior of the old New Tavern Restaurant, we are updating the entire building, creating a comfortable tavern feel, making it a space that can be used for casual meals, an evening out at the bar, or a fancy celebration. In addition, we are renovating the upstairs party room, which can accommodate events of 50-75 people in luxury and privacy. The C&R Market will have a separate entrance and will be stocked with kosher products only available in Lakewood, Brooklyn, and beyond. And our 25 spot parking lot will make dining and shopping convenient and easy.
I am sorry that we will need to close C&R Kitchen for 4-6 months while the Tavern and Market are under development. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, and I hope you will appreciate the role C&R has played in the community during our hiatus. In the meanwhile, the Dairy Café staff will do their best to provide excellent food for your kosher dining needs. We are happy to accommodate any off-menu dairy and pareve food orders, in consultation with our manager and chef. And our chefs will be happy to work off-premises to prepare any kosher meat meals you need in the privacy of your home or office. Sincerely,
David Magerman
