Chopped, the famous Food Network cooking competition, will be featuring their first middle school episode. Now that wouldn’t normally make this blog, except for the fact that one of the contestants is a kippah-laden 12 year old boy from Teaneck, NJ named Eitan Bernath. Bernath, a sixth grader in Yavneh Academy in Paramus, says cooking is more than just a hobby for him and he plans on opening at least 2 restaurants when he gets older. For now, he has already created his own website which you can see here. In case you're wondering, Bernath consulted with rabbinical authorities before appearing on Chopped and was told that he may cook the non kosher meat, but was unable to mix it with dairy. (Luckily, they did not add cream as one of the mystery ingredients). This special episode will air on Tuesday, September 30th at 10:00pm on the Food Network.
