RESTAURANT OPENINGS & UPDATES:
MANHATTAN
A new meat restaurant specializing in burgers and steaks will be opening up soon on the border of SOHO. There is not much information to say as the operation is still pretty much a secret. We can however reveal the location of the new place. It will be located on La Guardia Place between W. Houston and Bleeker Street and will be sharing the block with places such as Laduree, Le Souk, and the best designer shopping you can ask for. The owner has said that it will be a fun, hip restaurant with a laid-back vibe. Hint....No stranger to the industry! And shhhh, I'm trying to get you guys some spots for opening night! Sounds promising!
BROOKLYN
We got a chance to check out the new Bordeaux Steakhouse on Coney Island Avenue last week and we're going back tonight for a pre-soft opening tasting. They are hoping to open to the public by next week. We're working on arranging one night next week, where our Foodie members and newsletter readers get soft opening reservations, so stay tuned.
Meanwhile, click here for exclusive, behind the scenes photos of the restaurant. The place is huge, with four different dining areas as well as a party room. They are describing their cuisine as Modern American Steakhouse with a French Flair as far as preparation, technique and service. A new sign for Brooklyn Delight has been spotted in the former Cafe Napoli location. It is being labeled as an American & Chinese restaurant and word is that they are owned by the same people behind King Solomon Restaurant.

"Grind" Coffee House Has Opened
The new specialty coffee shop on Avenue P, off East 2nd, by former Circa owner, Harry Ashkanazie, has opened. Grind serves fresh breakfast and lunch items as well as a variety of coffees. Some of the types of coffee they have include draft, cold brew and drip style.
QUEENS
Bedford Schduled to Open on June 1st
We can announce that the highly anticipated restaurant by Ditmas Kitchen & Cocktails Chef Alex Reznik is schedule to open to the public on June 1st. Chef Reznik and his crew are making sure that every detail is in place before they open. The restaurant will have a very relaxed, chic vibe. Bedford will be serving some menu items from their Ditmas location but over 85% of the menu will be new items with a modern spin. We can't wait to try! Trio Restaurant & Lounge Grand Opening
A new restaurant has opened in Fresh Meadows on Union Turnpike. They have categorized themselves as a 'Traditional & American Glatt Kosher Restaurant'. Trio has Israeli style appetizers, salads, soups and wraps. They also offer in house or off premises catering. Trio is located at 181-34 Union Turnpike in Fresh Meadows, NY. MONSEY
A new steakhouse called Fireside has opened this week in Monsey. They are currently in a soft opening stage but we already have our first official review of the place and boy does it does look promising! Click here for full review and pictures. Click here for their menu.
NEW JERSEY
Avalon Glatt Kosher Restaurant opens in Livingston, NJ
A New Glatt Kosher restaurant and steakhouse opened this week in Livingston NJ. Located at 34 S. Livingston Ave. They can be reached at (973) 577-7700. Reservations aren't required but they are recommended. You can see their menu on their website by clicking here.
Posh to Open in the DSN Community Center
Posh, the high end pizza joint, known for their super-thin crust artisan pizzas will be opening this summer in Deal, New Jersey. They will be taking residence in the Deal Sephardic Network Community Center on Norwood Avenue. Posh will be serving their famous pizza along with salads, wraps, ice cream, snacks. juices, coffee and more. Located at 244 Norwood Avenue Oakhurst, NJ 07723
FLORIDA
Butcher Block Grill Boca Becomes Kosher

Gigi's Cafe Closes in Aventura Waterways, Moving Two Miles Away
Gigi's Café in the Aventura Waterways was sold to another restaurant. We can't say right now to whom, but I can assure you, it will be very exciting. Meanwhile, Gigi's is moving just a couple of miles away into a bigger location on Biscayne Blvd/US1 in the new "Town Center Aventura" Shopping Center (formerly called Loehmann's Plaza) just south of the Aventura Mall at 187th Street. The current tenant is still there until the Fall, so Gigi's is hoping to be open before the "season." Keep in mind, that Fresko and Soho is also nearby in the complex, behind Publix.
Stay tuned since there will be a lot of developments over the summer.
Mizrachi's Pizza Kitchen Soft Opening
Mizrachi's Pizza Kitchen, founded by seasoned chef David Mizrachi, has opened this week in Hollywood, FL. They are bringing high quality brick oven pizzas to Stirling Road as well as authentic Italian salads, sandwiches, pastas and more. In their soft opening stage they will be offering only take-out and delivery orders.

CHICAGO
The Lincoln Cafe opened in early March under the cRc. Is is currently located inside a BP gas station. The menu consists of dairy items such as salads, wraps, coffee and baked goods. The Lincoln Cafe is owned by Srulie Getter, the former owner of Srulie's Essen Delicatessen.
The Lincoln Cafe is located at 6599 N. Lincoln Avenue in Lincolnwood, Illinois.
Taboun Grill Closes Northbrook Location
Less than a year open, Taboun Grill has unfortunately closed their Northbrook restaurant. There other location in Skokie remains open.
SOUTH CAROLINA
New Kosher Vegetarian Dining Hall Comes to Charleston
The College of Charleston is opening a $1 Million Dollar Kosher Vegetarian Dining Hall later this year in the new wing of their new Jewish Studies Center. This is part of a $10 Million Dollar fundraising campaign for their Jewish Studies program. The Hall will be open for all meals of the day and will have the capacity to seat 75 people. They chose vegetarian because it is much easier to source than Kosher meats. This is a welcome addition for the Jews of Charleston. Click here to read the full article.
ARIZONA
Kosher Dining Coming to Arizona State University
While it may not seem like a huge deal to East Coast diners, having a Kosher option in the Arizona desert is huge! Kosher dining will be coming to the ASU next semester to provide Kosher food for thousands of Jewish students. More details, including menu to follow by June.
CANADA
"Savours Kosher Market" purchases "Hartmans Kosher Meats" (Toronto)
The owner and founder of Savuors Kosher Market, Henry Kauftheil has completed the acquisition of Hartmans Kosher Meats in Toronto. Kauftheil, who is also the owner of Gourmet Glatt and Evergreen in the States, will be greatly expanding the kosher shopping experience for Toronto residents. He has already had success in New York and New Jersey and is now bringing the gourmet kosher shopping experience to the people of Toronto. Mr. Kauftheil will soon be unveiling a full service kosher supermarket chain in Toronto. Click here for the full story.
Mediterraneo Kosher Steakhouse Now Open in Montreal
Amir Toledano, the former owner of Fuego, has opened a new Italian-style steakhouse in the former TerraCotta location in Ville Saint-Laurent. Mediterraneo has an extensive menu including pastas, salads, fish and meats. They also have a full bar offering wine and cocktails as well as an outdoor space where they can cater or host private parties at the restaurant.
Mediterraneo is located at 1873 Rue Saint Louis Saint-Laurent.
UKRAINE
Only Kosher Eatery Opens in Western Ukraine
The only Kosher Eatery opened this month in the town of Zhitomir in Western Ukraine. The restaurant's menu offers soup, salads, breads and meats and can seat 60 people. The restaurant is located in teh Ohr Avner Chabad Educational Village which is home to a Jewish Day School, two Mikveah, an orphanage and a synagogue. With over 5,000 Jews in the area, this restaurant is a huge deal. Click here for the full article.
