RESTAURANT OPENINGS & UPDATES:
MANHATTAN
The Falafel Shop located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan is now certified kosher under the OK. The vegetarian falafel shop makes their own fresh baked pita daily along with their famous gluten free falafel with fresh herbs. In addition to falafel, fresh pressed juices, sabich, burekas and home made Israeli inspired salads are all on the menu. The Falafel Shop is located at 127 Rivington Street between Norfolk & Essex in Manhattan. For late night eats, Falafel Shop is open until 2AM Sunday through Thursday and until 4AM Saturday nights.
The Pita Grill location in Midtown East Manhattan has reopened and is now fully kosher! News of a store turning kosher is always great to hear, especially in a location where there are not many kosher options (yeah, I know we are spoiled here in NY - if we have to walk more then 10 blocks for kosher, we get upset). Keep in mind, this is their only glatt kosher location as they have 3 others that are not under orthodox supervision. We have photos of their Shakshuka, Hummus plate, Chicken in a pita and a Meatball Sub, all looking delicious. Freshly made daily salads will be also be offered. There are seats for 50 to 60 diners but no waiter service. Note that they will deliver to Midtown and the Garment District (and within a 15 block radius). Pita Grill is located at 1083 2nd Avenue between 57th St & 58th St.
With the closing of Raphael in Paris, Chef Edward Boarland will be bringing the restaurant's Michelin star acclaimed flavors to New York at Prime KO as a guest chef. However, by the end of next week Prime KO will be reinvented as Prime West. Prime West will feature prix fixe dinners prepared by Chef Boarland in the upstairs dining room. This change will bring an unprecedented culinary experience to New York kosher dining. Prime West will also be getting a new menu with an updated sushi list, new cuts of meat and will offer an elegant twist on their signature Prime Grill dining options.

Brooklyn Steak Co. Grand Re-Opening Coming Soon

Brooklyn Steak Co. has been going under the knife for the past few months, getting a full-on renovation. They have finally removed the paper from the outside of the restaurant so if you are passing by you can get a sneak peek of what's inside.
The restaurant is now home to vintage Brooklyn inspired décor including mahogany doors, re-purposed 100 year old steel window panes and ombre tiles. Chef Eric Acklowitz and his sous chef Denise will be cooking up restaurant favorites and adding a few surprises to the menu (which will be revealed shortly). Keep an eye out for the grand reopening within the next week or two!

Dougie's is coming to Avenue J in Brooklyn but is not going to be opening into the Kosher Delight space. There were rumors floating around that Dougie's was going to
be taking the former KD spot. Upon a further look, they are actually taking the spot a block away and across the street at 1316 Avenue J (see middle store of attached photo). The projected date of Dougie's opening is March 2016.

The sleek new Jerusalem Steak House Express opened this past week on Kings Highway East 9th in Brooklyn. This is JSH's second Brooklyn location. It will be more focused on take out, rather than dine-in. The Israeli style menu is simple and straight forward. Choose from a pita, baguette, laffa or platter with your choice of protein, dressing and salads. An open salad bar is included with all purchases. Jerusalem Steak House Express is located at 902 Kings Highway in Brooklyn.
FIVE TOWNS
Five Town residents have been waiting for over 2 years for Amsterdam Burger Co. to open in their neighborhood. Sensing that there was a large interest in the restaurant, ABC had a soft opening late December serving only take out. They have since opened for dine-ins and take out. You can take a look at the menu here, but note that it is still subject to change. Amsterdam Burger Co. Five Towns is located at 490 Chestnut Street in Cedarhurst, NY.
FLORIDA
If you are looking for fresh flavors and homemade pastas, look no further than the new Acqua Miami Dairy Trattoria. Opened in the Aventura Waterways in early January, Acqua brings dairy fine dining to an area surrounded largely by meat and sushi restaurants. The decor is classic Miami with ocean blue walls, sea shells and Marina inspired decor. Although Acqua has just opened, the restaurant is garnering rave reviews for their excellent service and attention to detail. The raw bar with Ceviche, Carpaccio and Tartare is a unique option not to be missed. Click here to see the full menu. Acqua is located at 3585 NE 207th Street in the Aventura Waterways.
Rustiko has really owned up to their name by creating a quaint, rustic environment for their customers. This is a restaurant that you can go to with your friends and family to relax, chill and have a great time. The menu is divided into small and large plates. The small plates give diners a chance to sample a few menu items like salad, soup and pizza without committing to a full entree. The larger plates include homemade pastas and fresh fish dishes. The flavors at Rustiko are familiar ones but the execution is unlike anything you are used to. Click here for the full menu. Rustiko is currently in the soft opening phase, however, they are accepting reservations. Located at 9476 Harding Avenue.
LONDON
After being open for 13 years, Bevis Marks, the only glatt kosher Michelin-rated restaurant in London closed their doors December 24th. The restaurant was famous for their fine dining interpretations of Jewish dishes. In a message of expressed dismay from owners, Susan and Kenneth Arfin, they said, "We would have hoped the restaurant would have continued as kosher and it certainly wasn't for the want of trying, but it wasn't to be."
ROME
On January 3rd, the newest addition of the Ba'Ghetto family of restaurants opened in Rome. Su'Ghetto features breakfast, lunch and dinner items. The menu, which can be seen here, is extensive with dishes for every palate. From Hamburgers and Honey-Lacquered Chicken Wings to Beef Tartare and Truffle Potato Gnocchi, there is something for everyone. In addition to the full menu, the restaurant also boasts a full wine and espresso bar. Su'Ghetto is located at Via del Portico d'Ottavia 1c in Rome, Italy.
