RESTAURANT OPENINGS, CLOSINGS, & UPDATES:
MANHATTAN:
They haven't officially opened a restaurant yet but hot on the trail of their executive chef Jasmine Einalhori's Kosherfest competition win, Sage Kitchen is starting a series of pop-ups in NYC. They are offering a choice of one seasonal sandwich and side dish or a selection of 3 market salads. Sandwiches include but are not limited to Schnitzel with Apricot-Fig Jam, Roast Beef with Horseradish Mayo and Eggplant with Slow Boiled Egg and Potato. Salads include Spiced Carrot, Garbanzo, Herb Potato and more. Check out these photosfrom their latest pop-up. Keep an eye out for future dates and locations of Sage Kitchen's pop-up series.
BROOKLYN
Kicking off the Nostrand Avenue restaurant news, Olive Tree opened this week in the former Mamilla and Tea for Two Lite location. The owner and chef of Cafe Paris in Borough Park are behind this new dairy restaurant. Southwestern and Asian inspired dishes line the menu like their Beans and Cheese Anafre, Ecuadorian Ceviche or the Southwest Eggroll with Barbecue Salmon and Tuna Shiitake Mushrooms. Besides for a full lunch and dinner menu, they have an amazing $10 lunch special on weekdays. Olive Tree is located at 2811 Nostrand Avenue, just off Kings Highway.

STATEN ISLAND
Chopshtix in Staten Island is currently a small Chinese take-out operation but they are currently working on their expansion. They're taking over the space next door and looking to have their grand opening by the 2nd week of December. Chopshtix is planning to reopen as a sit down restaurant with about 30 seats. Chinese and Fried Chicken will stay on the menu in addition to a deli at the back of the restaurant. They will have Shabbos specials as well as deli sandwiches, salads and rotisserie chickens. Their "JFC" fried chicken buckets are a very popular item which will also be a star in the new place. Catering and in house parties will soon be available. Chopshtix is located at 2003 Victory Blvd.
NEW JERSEY
Dalia Barness of The Orchid in Metuchen will be the exclusive restaurateur and caterer for the new Hillel cafeteria and catering hall. The cafeteria will be dairy and with 2 kitchens, the catering hall can serve dairy and meat. The diary cafeteria will be open to the public, including Rutgers students. The catering hall will hold up to 300 people. Project is due to open in April 2016.
MARYLAND
According to their Facebook page, Blue Star House of BBQ in Maryland closed for business on October 10th. Customers and locals are sad to see the restaurant go. The owners of Blue Star are also the owners of Char Bar in Washington, DC, which will remain open.
FLORIDA
From the people behind Fuego BBQ & Smokehouse and Blaze Tex-Mex come the next dairy restaurant in the Aventura Waterways. Opening soon, Acqua Trattoria will be a dairy, Italian style restaurant. Since Gigi's Cafe has closed, there is no dairy option at the Waterways besides for candy and ice cream. This will provide diners with more options in this hot area (pun intended). Acqua Trattoria is located at 3585 NE 207th Street in the Aventura Waterways.
LAS VEGAS:
Originally opened this past June, Osi's closed this past week to kasher their kitchen. They were not previously under any kosher supervision but are now under Rabbi Ovadiah Fabbi. Osi's Kitchen specializes in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisine, which includes such dishes as Shakshuka, Merguez, Pargiot, Schnitzel, Falafel, Kabab and Sabich. Click here to see photos.
