Restaurant Openings & Updates (12/7/15)

It's a sad day for kosher chef hopefuls who were either attending or planning to attend the only kosher cooking school in the country. The Center for Kosher Culinary Arts announced via their Facebook page that after 8 years, they are closing down their Professional Training Programs. We have done many events with CKCA in the past and hope to still be able to work together in the future. All the best to our friends at the Center for Kosher Culinary Arts.
If you are skipping going to Izzy's BBQ for fear of not getting a seat, fear no more! Izzy's has started their expansion with 15 more seats available just next door plus more to be added within the next few weeks. They will also now be open until 11PM nightly. Just to clear up the myth that people are waiting a long time or that you won't get a table, it's not true. With the extra room and extended hours (including lunch), they have found the right rhythm and balance. Also something to ponder: Lunch deliveries...Could it be happening in the future? Keep it tuned to our Facebook Foodies page!
Manhattanville Coffee currently has two locations. One in Harlem and the other in Crown Heights. They announced via their Facebook page that the Crown Heights location only is now certified kosher under Rabbi Mehlman with a mashgiach from the local Chabad. They are serving Intelligentsia Coffee, Kilogram Tea, and a menu of sandwiches, salads and soup. They will be open Saturday nights in the winter until midnight. Manhattanville Coffee is located at 167 Rogers Avenue in Brooklyn.
A new bakery is opening on Coney Island Avenue and Avenue L in Flatbush. They are planning to open soon after Chanukah. Along with the bakery there will be a salad bar as well as more items to be announced soon. Stay tuned to our Facebook Foodies Page to be in the know!
Looks like the Five Towns is getting their very own charcoal chicken restaurant. It seems as though chicken is the hottest trend in kosher dining these days, and this chicken sure is HOT! The restaurant is scheduled to open this week. Click here for a first look at some photos of the main event, chicken! Chimichurri Charcoal Kitchen is located on Rockaway Turnpike in Lawrence, NY.
Formerly a catering operation, Sushi Talk Kosher Pan Asian Restaurant is now open in Philadelphia. Sushi Talk chef and owner Hao-ting Tai connected with Rabbi Menachem Schmidt of the Lubavich House in Pennsylvania before going kosher. Tai saw a need for kosher sushi in the area so after starting a non-kosher catering business he decided to make the switch! Sushi Talk is under the supervision of Community Kashrus of Greater Philadelphia Keystone-K and is located at 7588 Haverford Avenue in Philadelphia.
After months of anticipation, the new Carlos & Gabby's Smokehouse and Grill opened on November 24th in Miami. Locals and tourists alike flocked to the new place, reporting that the food and service are excellent. The menu is very similar to other Carlos & Gabby's locations. Click here to see one of the first foodie reviews posted on our page. Carlos & Gabby's Miami is located at 740 Arthur Godfrey Road in Miami Beach, Florida.
A few posts came out earlier this week saying that Kosher Grill in Orlando had lost their hashgacha. This information was proven to be false. Kosher Grill came out with a statement on November 24th stating that their are under the Vaad of Orlando and have a Mashgiach Temidi under OVO supervision and that they are fully kosher, Glatt Kosher and Pas Yisroel. So, if you are looking to go to Orlando in the near future, don't rule out Kosher Grill!
North Miami Beach can look forward to getting Shabbos food, express take-out and gourmet catering from the Kugel Factory operation which just opened yesterday. We have yet to get a look at the menu for this place but are hoping to see some interesting kugel combinations! The Kugel Factory is located at 540 41st Street in Miami Beach.
The Prime Group is at it again! This time they are opening Prime at the Canyons in Park City, Utah at the Silverado Lodge. The menu will be featuring classic Prime Grill items as well as new and exciting dishes. But, they aren't stopping there. You can also find sandwiches, salads, and various to-go items available at numerous outlets throughout the mountain. They'll also be offering delivery to all hotels in the area, including Shabbat food. They have an eruv, minyanim and everything you can possibly want on your kosher vacation! Email info@primecanyons.com or call 435-604-3000 for more information and a look at the menu.
