Restaurant Openings & Updates (2/11/16)

While the cat (or should I say dog?) is out of the bag, we first announced on our Facebook page that Promenade Bar & Grill is entering a joint venture with Teaneck Doghouse to open as a fully kosher sports bar. Promenade Bar & Grill has been serving kosher sushi along with non-kosher bar food. After Pesach they will be reopening as a fully kosher sports bar under supervision of the OK. The sports bar will have a full bar food menu along with the sushi they currently offer. Owners are looking for additional investors for this venture. Promenade Sports Bar & Grill is located at 344 3rd Avenue between 25th to 26th Street.

The first kosher certified Russ & Daughters location will be opening soon in the Jewish Museum. No word on an opening date yet. Russ & Daughters Appetizing is a legendary New York institution. They serve every type of Smoked Salmon you could possibly crave with great New York bagels and classic toppings. The Russ & Daughters branch in the Jewish Museum will be under the certification of National Kosher Supervision. They will not be open on Shabbos. Russ & Daughters will also be opening in the Brooklyn Navy Yard and although that location will not be kosher certified, you will be able to view the artisans at work while they cure the fish and make the bagels. Stay tuned to the Foodies page for developments and opening date.  h/t Tablet
Great Kosher Restaurants have received the first renderings of the new Dougie's Brooklyn location interior and we have to admit, it's looking pretty cool. We first reported in December that the Dougie's franchise will be opening on Avenue J, not in the former KD spot, but just a few steps away at 1316 Avenue J. The demo is already done and construction has started as of this week. The new Dougie's is projected to open after Pesach, which we suspect will be an exciting time for kosher restaurant openings, so stay tuned to our Foodies Facebook page for all those updates and more! Click here to see the exclusive photos of the new Dougie's Brooklyn.
On January 31st, El Gaucho Glatt, the Argentinian steakhouse in Brooklyn, closed it's doors for good. The restaurant went up for auction just a few days later. The restaurant owner tried his best to keep the place open. The food was consistently good and was a great value for your money. Locals are sad to see the restaurant close. Click here to see the last foodie review at El Gaucho Glatt. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.  Stay tuned to see what happens with that space.
Prime Chef Club Room
While Prime Pizza opened just a few short months ago, in a meeting with owner Joey Allaham last week, he told us he had too many questions about the side by side restaurant with Prime Burger and he is changing concepts. Under the lead of Great Kosher Restaurants Magazine, Allaham is turning the pizza space into the "Prime Chef's Club Room," an exclusive space for multi purpose events. Think of it as the new culinary frontier in kosher dining. Diners will get the chance to experience one of a kind meals and events with famed chefs and aspiring ones. The space holds 16 seats for table seating and 30 for standing room. All bookings will be done through a dedicated email we have set up at: primeclub@gkrm.net. The Prime Chef's Club is located on East 12th Street off Avenue J. Click here to read our full blog post.
Wolf & Lamb Brooklyn has announced via their Facebook and Instagram pages that they are now providing kosher food at the Brooklyn Museum's BKM Cafe. They are offering some pretty great options like the Grilled Chicken Breast with Smokey Beef "Bacon" and Truffle Mayo on a Whole Wheat Wrap (pictured, right). This is not your typical grilled chicken sandwich. There will also be classic Tuna Salad on a Sun-Dried Tomato Wrap with a Cucumber Dill Aioli as well as a variety of salads, additional wrap selections and more. The Brooklyn Museum is located at 200 Eastern Parkway. Wolf & Lamb Steakhouse in Brooklyn is located at 1635 Coney Island Avenue.
It's been a late start for the Mumbai Grill which originally planned to open by the end of September, but you know what they say, good things come to those who wait! In this case we're talking about the authentic flavors of India which come out of their Tandoor ovens and savory dishes like their Chicken Tikka Masala, Beef Samosas and Vegetable Biryani. If you are looking for a completely out of the ordinary dining experience, this is the one to try. Just don't forget the Naan! They are offering a Grand Opening Special of 10% off until February 15th. Mumbai Grill is located at 178 Middle Neck Road in Great Neck, NY. Click here to read more in our blog post.
According to their social media pages, Cork and Slice will be up and running within the next few weeks. The pizza oven is in, their sign is up and the furniture arrived and has been set in place. The restaurant will be an upscale pizza and wine bar, as you can probably deduce from the name. Projected opening will be by the end of February.
Cork & Slice is located at 477 Chestnut Street in Cedarhurst, NY.
A Chef's Table style restaurant is coming to Monsey, on Saddle River Road, in the same complex as The Ridge Steakhouse. The projected opening date of this upscale dairy restaurant is scheduled for next week and it's certainly welcome news for the area. The Mitbach will be featuring Pizza, Salads, Fish, Pastas, a Raw Bar and artfully paired Cheeses. Notable menu items include the Winter Gnocchi with Butternut Squash, Feta, Brown Butter and Fine Herbs and from the Raw Bar, the Scottish Salmon with a Pink Grapefruit Emulsion, Salmon Chip, Tarragon, Toasted Marcona Almonds and Lemon Aioli. Stay tuned for the full menu coming to you soon! The Mitbach is located at 306 East Saddle River Road in Airmont, NY.
Kosher diners now have their own version of Chipotle called Salsa Metsuyan in Teaneck. We first reported about the Mexican fast food restaurant in the summer on our blog. The restaurant is owned by the people behind Sushi Metsuyan which is just next door. They are now in a soft opening phase but will be fully ready for customers by next week. Last night the restaurant had their doors open so they could give out free samples of the food. Salsa Metsuyan will be serving Mexican/Korean Burritos, Bowls and Tacos.
The Harbour Grill Gourmet to Open Next WeekHarbour Grill Deli
The Harbour Grill Deli was in the works for a while, now called The Harbour Grill Gourmet they are scheduled to open by next week. We wrote about it on our blog in late April. It seems that the project has finally taken off. The paper is off the front of the store and that's always a good sign. The Harbour Grill Gourmet is under the same ownership of The Harbour Grill in Surfside. They will be making their own charcuterie, sausages, deli, pickled tounge and smoked meats. Their French Chef Patrick will be creating dinner specials and Shabbat catering.
