Restaurant Openings & Updates (4/19/16)

Grand opening for the NY Brat Factory is scheduled for mid-May. Just in time to get your chametz fix with homemade sausages, onion rings, cured meats and more. Chef Avram Wiseman of CKCA fame has been working on some delicious recipes to share with you at the NY Brat Factory. Follow the GKR Foodies Group on Facebook for updates on this story including exact opening date, menu, photos and more. 
The highly anticipated open space cocktail bar and restaurant, Bison & Bourbon, is poised to become the next hot spot in the Gowanus area of Brooklyn. There are no other kosher restaurants in the immediate area, however, it is in close proximity to Park Slope which is home to culinary greats such as Pardes and Chagall Bistro. Stay tuned for more information! 
Blueberry Cafe on Avenue M is starting something new and very different after Pesach. They have employed a new chef to revamp the menu at dinnertime. Meanwhile, they will have late hours this week and will be open Erev Pesach and Chol Hamoed with a full menu (including pizza and pasta) and 8 flavors of frozen yogurt with a totally redesigned outdoor seating area! Brooklyn Artisan Bakehouse has been around for almost a year now and their breads have been and are currently available in most kosher supermarkets. Owner, Levy Krinsky wanted to utilize the front of his store which has simple, elegant decor along with a long "L" shaped bar. He thought it would be a great idea to open a cafe that specializes in the finest homemade breads topped with the finest ingredients and so the cafe was born. Like every new restaurant, they are going to be in an opening phase over the next few weeks introducing their coffee and espresso lines, homemade pastries and grab & go items. Brooklyn Artisan Bakehouse is located at 529 East New York Avenue and is under the OK Supervision.
There is a new dairy cafe and ice cream shop opening in mid-May on Kingston Avenue under the ownership of the Werner brothers of Crown Heights, who run KMR Tours. At the helm is chef "Udi" formally of Basil and The Coffee BarCOLlive writes that "the centerpiece of the restaurant will be all natural, freshly made gourmet ice cream and gelato in flavors like strawberry, mango, passion fruit, praline chocolate, caramel, halvah and more. 
The café will also offer delectable salads, such as pecan-mango green salad or grilled salmon salad, which will be accompanied by freshly baked corn bread or garlic bread. Hearty soups will be made daily. Fresh dairy pastries will include scones, danishes and 6 types of cheesecake." Located at 423 Kingston Avenue, between Montgomery and Empire Boulevards.
  After a ton of requests to reopen a Dougie's in Brooklyn, they're finally doing it! Look out for the grand opening after Pesach around the first week of May on Avenue J in Brooklyn. The games are about to begin. We've just received word that Sushi Fussion will be opening a new location in Brooklyn on Kings Highway and East 8th. They currently have 4 locations open in Flushing, Forest Hills, Great Neck and Manhattan. The Brooklyn restaurant will be their 5th location. The owners plan to have the grand opening in June. The next to open in a series of Kosher Sports Bars, Courtside Grill is set to open soon after Pesach. They have taken over the former Brasserie Halevi location. Visionary Rosie Benaltaba teamed up with Reut Bendelstein to bring this "years in the making" idea to fruition. Imagine a place where your kids can get healthy, organic meals, including even baby food, in a safe and fun environment designed just for them. Kids will be able to play in a sectioned off area filled with parent and kid-approved games and toys including a climbing wall, lego wall, playhouse and more. Lolli Bop will be unveiling a bunch of activities as they open including Mommy & Me Yoga, Graffiti Art, Music Lessons, Motzei Shabbos Glow in the Dark Parties and more. BH Gourmet Grill which stands for Burger House and also Baruch Hashem will be a kosher sports bar opening soon in Suffern, NY. This is the fourth kosher sports bar opening this year, proving that this kosher sports bar idea is a winning one! They're scheduled to have their soft opening on May 15th. Aryeh's Kitchen is a mobile food truck coming to Nashville, Tennessee this Spring. There are currently little to no kosher meat options in the area. This will be filling a void as well as providing customers with clean, organic ingredients. The chef Eddie King is also known as the Rock Star Chef. He has cooked for celebrities like Garth Brooks, Rascall Flats and Kobe Bryant among others. Aryeh's Kitchen offers catering as well as lunch and breakfast specials. 
Friendship Circle's newest facility will be the home of the new Soul Studio Arts & Culinary Program, including The Soul Cafe. The Soul Center gives young adults with special needs the opportunity to be active, productive and most importantly included members of society. The Soul Café will provide a kosher menu featuring gourmet soups, salads and sandwiches in a warm and relaxed environment. The café will teach adults with special needs the skills of food prep, cooking, hosting and serving. The cafe will run in two shifts, each of which will have 6 employees with special needs. To kick off the cafe opening, they will be having a Pre-Passover Buffet on Thursday, April 21st at 5PM. Located at 5586 Drake Road in West Bloomfield.
Setting out to serve the best coffee in Ormond Beach, Shaya Fogel, claims to be doing it the best and the cheapest and he's not even open yet. Fed up with expensive, mediocre coffee Fogel is opening Eden Fresh Cafe in May. The chef behind Eden Fresh is Natasha Levy who is known around town for her famous salads. The owner says the place "has to be kosher or I can't be involved". Supervision will be under Rabbi Pinchas Ezagui, local Rabbi of the Chabad of Greater Daytona area. Located at 142 N. Nova Road in Ormond Beach, Florida.
In an attempt to break out of the ordinary sushi bar (bento) box, the owners of SuThai decided to try their hand at a new adventure in dining. They have joined together the flavors of Thailand along with the familiarity of Japanese sushi. By bringing the two cuisines together they are experimenting with new flavors to bring Boca a completely new dining experience. Opened this week under ORB supervision, SuThai is looking to spice up the Boca dining scene. Located at 2201 N. Federal Highway in Boca Raton, FL.

Jeff's Gourmet Sausage Factory Stand Open in Dodgers Stadium
Kosher Dodgers fans rejoice! You can now get a kosher beer and hot dog or sausage while watching the game. Jeff's Gourmet Sausage Factory has opened their own stand on April 12th. They are now serving hot dogs, jalapeno dogs, Italian sausages and beer. Look out for them in the right field pavilion.
