MANHATTAN
Sunflower Cafe Opens Third Location on Upper West Side

This is the third location of Sunflower Cafe, now open on the Upper West Side. With original locations in Brooklyn and the Five Towns, they have added Manhattan to the roster. Sunflower Café is known for their consistent, quick service and authentic Israeli dishes. Sunflower Café UWS is located at 676 Amsterdam Avenue between 92ndand 93rd Streets.
BROOKLYN
A new espresso bar called Frappe 'n' Wrap is opening soon on Avenue M and East 17th Street in Brooklyn. They will be serving organic coffees as well as a full espresso bar, salads, wraps and more. The cafe will also feature a fresh sushi bar called Sushi Yoko inside. Stay tuned to the Foodies Group for more information.
The Prime Hospitality Group have reopened their Prime Pizza location which was formerly Pizza da Solo and later the Prime Chefs Club Room. The new store called Prime Pizza and Grill is now serving unique meat pizzas and flatbreads as well as traditional grill items. Some pizzas include dairy free cheeses like Almond Ricotta and Soy Mozzarella along with Charcuterie like Beef and Duck Prosciutto, Bresaola, Salami and "Pepperoni". We can finally reveal that the new Main House BBQ Smokehouse will be opening in Mill Basin. They are a Texas-style BBQ joint with a modern twist. Serving up premium craft beers on tap this is a promising opening for the area. Main House BBQ will be located at 6001 Strickland Avenue near Strike 10 Lanes bowling alley. The Sushi Fussion that we all know and love in Flushing, Forest Hills, Great Neck and Manhattan is now coming to Brooklyn at 722 Kings Highway on Tuesday, June 7th. Great Kosher Restaurants is doing a pre-opening friends and family tasting night on Monday, June 6th. The Gowanus restaurant you've all been waiting for is here. The two-story magnificent restaurant with a stunning outdoor courtyard under the OK Supervision is sure to be one of the hottest new places in Brooklyn! The restaurant is now taking reservations and party requests starting from Wedneday, June 8th and can be reserved by emailing reservations@bisonandbourbon.com. FIVE TOWNS
Looks like the 5 Towns just got a little bit cooler. Rita's Ices is moving into the Lawrence neighborhood (under the Vaad of 5 Towns), on Central Avenue, off Rockaway Turnpike, next to Glatt Farm, a few doors down from Traditions. They will be opening hopefully mid-June (as soon as construction is completed) This is the owners first Rita's ice location. They will be selling the regular Rita's menu, plus hot pretzels and churros and maybe a few more snack type items. Click here for the full story.
Courtside Grill, the all Kosher Sports Restaurant in the 5 Towns, announced they are going to be having their soft opening with a limited amount of reservations until they officially open after Shavuos. So if you want to be a part of the soft launch between June 6th and June 9th from 5-10pm (just in time for the NBA finals), you can make reservations by calling 516-341-0755.
RIVERDALE
Wave Hill, the Public Garden and Cultural Center, has teamed up with Moss Cafe to offer patrons a sampling of kosher fare for a limited time only. Moss Cafe will be serving their seasonal, sustainable and scratch made menu at The Cafe at Wave Hill under the Va'ad HaRabonim of Riverdale. The Moss Cafe offerings will be available to start from June 5th until July 24th. Click here to view a sample menu. Wave Hill is located at 649 West 249th Street in Riverdale. Moss Cafe is located at 3260 Johnson Avenue also in Riverdale.
PENNSYLVANIA
The New Tavern, a Main Line restaurant standby since the 30's, has closed and will be reopening as a kosher restaurant and market. David Magerman, owner of popular kosher Philadelphia restaurants like C&R Kitchen and The Dairy, announced via Facebook that he purchased the space and plans to reopen it as Citron & Rose Tavern & Market. The plan is to serve C&R dishes as well as kosher versions of classic New Tavern dishes. The market part of the restaurant will include a kosher take out section. Former owner Nick Zarvalas will be staying on as an adviser. The venue will also be available to host events and parties.
CHICAGO
We revealed on our Facebook page, that Elias Michel Barnatan, the restaurant owner of Pi-Chi-Klin in Buenos Aires is opening an Argentinian steakhouse in Chicago. The name Evita Grill is an ode to Argentina (but don't cry for her). Although Madonna won't be part of their logo, so Material Girl lawyers, you can relax. Things are progressing nicely and they expect to open sometime in July. Evita Grill will be located at 6112 N L incoln Avenue, Chicago, IL. Click here to view the exclusive photos.
FLORIDA
A new kosher restaurant, called MeaToast is opening at 222 - 71st Street, between Collins and Harding Avenue. The area is called North Beach, or NoBe for the fancy people, but this is interesting as it's the only place in this specific area which is in the middle of popular Miami Beach and Surfside. Also it's rare that a Miami restaurant opens after the season. We hear that they'll focus on late night orders and deliveries. They are set to open in the next week or two. Seventeen Restaurant Opening Second Location
The sushi restaurant "17" is opening their second location on 163rd Street in North Miami Beach. Their current location is in South Beach at on 17th Street and Alton Road.
CALIFORNIA
Origin Cafe, a fresh and fully organic restaurant is a new hot spot to try out on Pico. The cafe is fully on board with the farm-to-table concept. Chef Aaron prides himself on serving up both diverse and distinct dishes sure to be memorable and savory. The current menu features a large variety of tea, fresh squeezed juice and 16 varieties of coffee. Consider their fresh and fun take on classic and favorite Israeli dishes like Sabich, Shakshuka and Mission Fig Salad with Blue Cheese and Honey Balsamic Vinaigrette. Origin Cafe is located at 8532 West Pico Boulevard in Los Angeles, California.
CANADA
Chiyoko Sushi boasts a full, unique sushi menu including vegan options as well as meat sushi options like a Beef Teriyaki roll. The restaurant will be offering AAA Black Angus Beef Steak and some dishes literally on fire! They are located at 2113 St-Louis in Montreal, Quebec.
