Chef Abie Maltz of Nu Cafe 47 opened a new place this past week called Chef Abie Sandwich Spot. The space used to be his take-out and gluten free market, however he has decided to switch gears and start making delicious, American style comfort food. At the Great Kosher Restaurants exclusive tasting we had a little intimate get together with some Foodie friends enjoying 5 different Egg Rolls, Chili Dog, The Abie Sampler, Chef Deluxe Burger, Chef Abie's Pulled Brisket Sandwich and a Special Strawberry-Rum Cocktail. Chef Abie, while culinary trained, brings a homemade, home-style, flavor to delicious, comfort food. We wish him luck in this new store and hope people get a chance to stop by and try it for themselves. Chef Abie Sandwich Spot is located at 4726 New Utrecht Avenue, off 48th Street.

We first reported about Lolli Bop Café & Play in the Five Towns on our blog in April and we are happy to see that they are now open! It's not just a place to bring the kids when they want to have fun, it's also a place where parents can relax and enjoy a healthy, delicious meal while their children are busy playing. There is a giant playhouse, musical corner, Lego wall, rock climbing wall, life size board games, mini food market, dress up station and just about everything a kids needs to have their imagination run wild. As for the food, Lolli Bop is not ignoring the appetites of parents. They have health conscious options like their Tel Aviv Salad with feta, tomato and basil, Goat Cheese and Fig Crisps, Avocado Toasts and a Kale Caesar Salad with homemade Croutons. If you have a sweet tooth, a full pastry case is filled at all times with different flavored croissants. They are currently in their soft opening phase as of June 17th. NEW JERSEY
Kosher Convenience Store Opens in Ventnor
Located at 4205 Atlantic Ave. in Ventnor, N.J., Poppy's features coffee and a variety of prepackaged food, including pastries, bagels, meats, cheeses, candy, chocolate, salads, pickles and knishes, as well as some nonfood items, such as hats and books.
The store opened on June 26 and had its full product line in place on June 29.
A block from the ocean, the store is aimed at kosher-keeping beachgoers looking to take provisions seaside. Lee hopes it appeals to Philadelphia-area residents who don't want to lug a cooler full of food from home. The store also will deliver meals to customers' doors each Friday morning, so long as orders are placed by 5 p.m. each Tuesday. In addition, there are several outside tables customers can use for picnicking. The idea for Poppy's germinated over time, as Lee discussed the idea with friends who own Bubbies Bistro, a kosher dairy restaurant a block away. The Bubbies owners will be partners in the convenience store. The store will stay open through the end of September, but it could become more of a year-round operation depending on how well it does. Information provided by the Jewish Exponent.

Click here to view exclusive photos of the new place located at 1129 NE 163rd Street off 12th Avenue in North Miami Beach, FL.

Wrapping up the official Toronto Kosher Restaurant Month, the new Israeli restaurant Aish Tanoor opened for business. Aish Tanoor is an authentic Israeli restaurant. It's so authentic that the owner Sassi Haba is actually from Israel and has brought back all his favorite recipes like Hummus Shakshuka, fresh laffa, sabich, samosa, steaks, lamb ribs, kebabs and in true Israeli fashion, tons more. The restaurant has an outdoor patio that's perfect for summer. Aish Tanoor is located at 994 Eglinton Avenue West in Toronto, ON.

We regret to inform you that Joe Boo's Cookoos has closed their doors for good. The restaurant was known for their exceptional wood-fired rotisserie chicken, using the art of smoking and a unique blend of herbs and spices. Owner Joe Boussidan created delicious chicken dishes that appealed to the whole family. Menu favorites included the Ribeye Steak Sandwiches, Rotisserie Chicken, and Shish Kabob Sandwiches. We wish them the best of luck in the future.
