Restaurant Openings & Updates (7/14/16)

RESTAURANT OPENINGS, CLOSURES & UPDATES:

MANHATTAN
The Financial District is about to get another kosher restaurant. They are about two weeks from opening, but Amba "Fidi" is going to be a cute, little Israeli spot at 160 Pearl Street (right off Wall Street), serving falafel and schwarma. They will be open from 11:30am-9pm, Sunday through Thursday with shorter hours on Friday. Amba will offer delivery to lower Manhattan within a 2 mile radius. The restaurant will be under the supervision of Rabbi David Navarro of Staten Island. From the owners of Falafel off the Korner.

BROOKLYN
Talk about Farm to Table! In just a few short weeks the garden atop Bison & Bourbon will be flourishing and supplying herbs, squash, beans and peas to their seasonal dishes! Chef Moti Lebovich created the magical garden to provide the freshest ingredients for their kitchen. The system is still being cycled (bringing up nitrate levels) and timing will be flaky until it's stable, but without any major problems the food can be on plates in the next two weeks. Make your reservations and have garden-to-table ingredients right here in Brooklyn by phone at (718) 422-0801 or email reservations@bisonandbourbon.com. Bison & Bourbon is located at 191 7th Street in the Gowanus area of Brooklyn.

In early July, Rita's Ice in Lawrence opened for what will be a soft opening summer. Their grand opening will probably take place at the end of August when most of the residents are back. Rita's of Lawrence plans to have an extensive menu which includes the many different exotic flavors of Italian ice and frozen custard Rita's offers. They will also be carrying a Rita's dessert menu, which includes Oreo and Cinnamon Churros, funnel cake fries, and hot cinnamon pretzels. Their entire menu will be under the Vaad of the 5 Towns. All Rita's Italian ice is pareve. Located at 296 Central Avenue in Lawrence, NY.

WASHINGTON, DC
Looking for Glatt Kosher food in our nation's capital? Well, so were GW alums Carly Meisel, Sophia Brener, Yoni Kintzer, Rivky Steiner, and Rabbi Yudi Steiner of the local Chabad house. They decided to do something about it and after just a few months their Brooklyn-based menu food truck was ready for business. The menu features Jewish classics like Matzo Ball Soup, Pulled Brisket, Pastrami and Knishes. It also features some more out of the box options like a Curried Chicken Salad, Truffle Cauliflower Mash and a Vegetarian version of Chulent with Portobello mushroom, sunchokes, and barley. You can find the truck's daily location by following them on Facebook or Twitter. Brooklyn Sandwich Co. is under the supervision of Rabbi Hillel Baron of Congregation Ahavas Israel in Columbia, MD.

TEXAS
We've just got word of a brand new kosher restaurant opened late last month in the Lone Star State of Texas. Danelo Italian Cuisine is Dallas's newest and only Cholov Yisroel Dairy restaurant. They are certified kosher under the Dallas Vaad. The restaurant is located adjacent to Meat Point at 7114 Campbell Road in Dallas, Texas. The food is Italian with a Mediterranean spin like their Sabich or Shakshuka inspired Pizzas, or Feta & Sweet Potato Salad. The restaurant is also serving classic Italian dishes like Beet Carpaccio, Manicotti, Ravioli, Pizza, Whole Fish, Fettuccine and more. Yee-Haw!
