ABOUT Le Marais
Without sounding over the top, Le Marais is simply one of the best kosher steakhouses in the country. Approaching two decades, Le Marais, which is named for a Jewish neighborhood in Paris, has been attracting dates, business people, tourists and theatre goers alike.  Earning a very good “22” Zagat ranking, the guide exclaims “the quality meats happens to be kosher...a convenient provider of delicious beef at fair prices.”

Indeed, their cuisine, especially their steaks, are world renowned as they buy their meat straight from a master butcher who supplies them with the best selections.  With a specific aging process, their customers are assured of getting the finest quality cuts. They are certainly on par with any non-kosher steakhouse. Owner Jose Meirelles, reflects on the establishment history: “When we opened the restaurant almost 20 years ago, there was a lack of kosher restaurants that knew how to properly age their meats. We offered the Jewish customer something that they never had before.”

In a turn-of-the-century French style wooden decor, the restaurant offers their guests a casual yet classy atmosphere.  For your convenience, this rare steakhouse, well done, offers space for private meetings and parties in their upstairs dining room. Along with his rustic cooking, Long Island-born, Executive Chef, Mark Hennessey brings his C.I.A. training and years of kosher restaurant experience to Le Marais.  What most people come for, Mark says, are the “La Surprise”- their butcher's cut and Tournedos Le Marais with bearnaise sauce. Creative daily lunch and dinner specials are commonly found on the menu, so be sure to visit often.  Le Marais also features one of the largest international wine lists of any kosher restaurant, including many special bourbons, whiskeys, single malt and scotch selections.

My first visit found a very welcoming staff and very reasonably priced lunch entrees, particularly the lunch specials. As it was late in the afternoon and the room was nearly empty, it's difficult to judge what the noise level will be when full, but it was quiet at 3pm. The flavored iced tea was delicious as were the french fries and the spicy sausage hamburger. Served with a fresh side salad on crusty rolls, it was a delightful meal. I'll be back for sure.

Le Marais - the best steakhouse in NYC!
Serena C- 10/29/14

Le Marais is by far the best kosher restaurant in Manhattan. I have been going there for years and the food is consistently good and decently priced. I always recommend it to friends from out of town and Le Marais never fails to impress. They are also open pretty late so it's a great place to eat after a Broadway show! Perfect for when you need to satisfy a craving for steak tartare.

Expensive Steak? Are you kidding? Have you been to other kosher steakhouses in the city? This by far the cheapest, and most consistently awesome steakhouse in Manhattan

Clubhouse Café to Lose its Lease and Closing THIS THURSDAY
Elan Kornblum, Publisher- 05/22/12
BREAKING NEWS- JUST RECEIVED THIS PRESS RELEASE:

Clubhouse Café to Lose its Lease and Closing THIS THURSDAY; Reopening Once New Space is Located

It is with sadness that we announce that The Clubhouse Café must relocate from its current location on West 46th Street. The current site will be closing by May 24th.

The building it occupies and the adjacent properties have been purchased for a Times Square renovation development project beginning later this year. As a result, our lease has been terminated leaving us with little recourse, but to close immediately and try to find a new home.

Closing our doors is not something we planned for, but we will rebuild and reopen as soon as possible. We have wonderful fans and appreciate the support our clients have given us over these past four years. We know that our menu selections have become favorites, if not staples to some.

With that in mind, we are enhancing our menu at our sister restaurant Le Marais at 150 West 46th Street to include a wider burger menu, with selections we believe our clients will relish. We expect to have a new location shortly for Clubhouse to reopen quickly. Thank you.

Absolutely memorable! My husband and I (and two friends) had an amazing meal at Le Marais. Everything, from the atmosphere to the table setting to the food was perfect. The wagyu beef burgers were fantastic, as was the duck confit on frisee salad. The house red wine was delish, but the coffee was horrendous (but who cares? you're not there for the coffee anyway!). This restaurant is fancy without being pretentious. And while it is pricey, it's definitely worth it! The food is great. portions are fair and you will not forget your visit soon!
Truly one of the few kosher restaurants that don't seem kosher when you enter. There's a mixed crowd and they did a wonderful job of hiding the washing sink, benchers, etc. I loved feeling like I was just eating in a regular, beautiful restaurant, rather than eating in the local kosher joint.

For anyone with peanut or nut allergies, please be aware that Le Marais uses peanut oil for anything fried in the restaurant, and that many of the dishes contain nuts. Your best bet is to speak with the manager and find out exactly what is ok to eat on the menu and what isn't. I had the prime rib with mashed potatoes and the side salad, and I was fine. Also be wary of the desserts.

Our restaurant staff are educated to be aware of allergies. We are always ready to accomodate a guest with special requests whenever possible.

Atmosphere was great as was the dining experience. The food was superb, and there was no loud music to disturb conversation. I would give this restaurant a 5 out of 5 rating.
