Walk into Backyard BBQ & Brew and be transported. The long, dark wood bar, wood-paneled walls, and handcrafted wooden chairs will take you from the middle of Miami to the wild, wild West. Just a few blocks away from the beach, this Surfside restaurant is the perfect place to go after a long day of fun in the sun.
It’s not just the décor that transports you; it’s the food. Backyard BBQ & Brew smoke with hickory and apple wood in their genuine Southern Pride Smoker, so you know you’re getting the real thing. Run by award-winning pitmaster and co-owner Mendel Segal, the menu is true BBQ, with headings like “From the Smoker” which has a disclaimer stating, “till we run out.”
Starting from the “Small Plates,” highly recommended are the chicken wings, which come in three flavors, and the chili fries. The Dinosaur Beef Short Ribs are a must for anyone with a hankering for meat, huge and melt-in-your-mouth soft. The Southern Fried Chicken can be ordered as a half or a whole chicken, with the choice for it to be served on a perfectly soft and crispy waffle. And if you reserve seventy-two hours in advance, you can be the proud owner of menu items like Smoked Lamb Saddle Forequarter or a Smoked Whole Rack of Veal. Backyard BBQ also has grilled options, like the Black Angus BBQ Brisket Steak or 8 oz. Backyard Burger, and hot dogs, which can be topped with chili, fried pastrami, fried eggs, and more. Their “Accessories” include things like Grilled Corn on the Cob, Cast Iron Mashed Potatoes, and Burnt Ends Brisket Baked Beans.
Backyard BBQ and Brew, true to its name, also has an impressive selection of wine and beer, with ten beers on tap, featuring beers from Miami’s own Wynwood Brewing Company. Whether you live in Florida or are there on vacation, let Backyard BBQ & Brew take care of you.
