While owners Shaya and Mendy Lazarus may have kept the name of its predecessor at their newly reimagined and redecorated restaurant, The Ridge is a unique dining experience that dares to impress with bold flavors, upscale décor, impeccable service and a diverse menu that will have you wanting one of everything.
As with just about every other establishment in the Monsey area, you will need a car to enjoy The Ridge because public transportation just won’t get you where you need to go, but in the good news department, parking is simple and painless. As you pull into the strip mall where The Ridge is located, you may just wonder if you are in the right place but fear not – nestled alongside a women’s clothing store, a dry cleaner and a kosher supermarket is a fabulous culinary experience about to unfold.
With its immaculate white tablecloths, contemporary lighting, and walls whose stone covered bottoms give way to elegant grey and silver wallpaper, The Ridge welcomes diners with visuals that immediately announce that this is a fine dining establishment. Double the size of the old restaurant bearing the same name, the new Ridge is spacious and intriguing, with a center divider available to split the restaurant into two distinct areas for private parties and dinners of various sizes.
Drawing on his Cuban heritage and his experience with renowned restaurateur Danny Meyer and at Le Cirque, Chef Gustavo Gutierrez brings both his flair for innovation and a passion for unexpected ingredients to The Ridge. With a willingness to think outside the box and the skills to successfully adapt a broad range of cuisine to the kosher world, Chef Gustavo brings his A-game to The Ridge, with results that will have you delightfully nibbling every last crumb off your plate.
In addition to an extensive sushi bar, hand butchered steaks that redefine the term “dry aged” and a well-chosen wine list, The Ridge’s house specialties include a selection of smoked meats, including whole oxtail with spicy tomato sauce and both fillet and prime rib eye steaks. Other standout dishes include the guacamole topped pulled brisket topped on crispy plantain fritters, tender kale gnocchi with truffle short ribs and the succulently delicious crispy tongue chanterelle mushrooms, perfectly accented by rhubarb coulis and sugar snap peas. Truly outstanding is the 90-day aged prime rib eye, whose sizzling perfection and tender juiciness make this a steak to remember.

Those same exacting standards are evident in Chef Gustavo’s full menu of in house prepared desserts. Particularly notable are the 12-layer chocolate mousse, whose ribbons of chiffon cake and fluffy cream are adorned with an oozing ganache, and the piping hot cookie souffle that pairs alternating mounds of chocolate and double chocolate chip cookie dough with slowly melting ice cream encrusted in candied peauts.
Lunch specials are also available from 12:30 to 3:30 at The Ridge, with a solid variety of tacos, pizza, sandwiches, salads and sushi on the menu to please any palate.
