Bay Café started with a phone call back in November 2018. They had been non-kosher when they opened back in 2012, but owner Larisa Aronov recognized that there is a need in the area for a kosher café. She contacted us, and we were instrumental in the transformation. We all should be proud of helping make it kosher. It was your reaction, comments, encouragement from a post I made in November 2018 asking if you think they should be kosher that gave them the push to turn kosher. After that, we got things in motion. Over those 3 months, I worked with them in getting the OK Supervision on board, helped get them an interest free loan for new businesses and advised them on many fronts. But that was the easy part. Larisa Aronov and her team had a lot of work cut out for them. New vendors, new rules, new hours and but they went in with their eyes wide open and they are learning more every day and soaking up as much information and feedback as they can to make sure they are proud as well of becoming kosher, and reopened as The Bay café in March 2019.
You can come in for breakfast & lunch & dinner, Bay Cafe is focused on Mediterranean style preparation of fish, appetizers, pasta & risotto, soups & salads. At the Cafe you can find an excellent variety of smoked fish, fresh salads and spreads, omelets & Shakshuka, in-house morning baked pastries & bagels, fine variety of breads, fresh squeezed juices and smoothies.
Attention Kingsborough Community College Students and Faculty: Did you know that there is freshly prepared kosher food in the school cafeteria every day from The Bay Cafe just blocks away in Manhattan Beach? You have a variety of salad and sandwiches, like egg salad, tuna fish, garden salad, Cesar Salad. They can also do catering on their college campus, which by the way is beautiful. Inquire with the restaurant.
Located right off the Belt parkway they offer delivery and before or after your meal, take a beautiful walk along the bay which is across the street from the restaurant. Perhaps you can go fish or just order it. Also check them out on Uber Eats.
We were fortunate to learn about the Bay Cafe in Brooklyn from Great Kosher Restaurants dot com. It opened just a few weeks earlier. The design and atmosphere in the restaurant is very nice. The Owner-Manager Steve was personable, friendly and eager to please. He was fabulous. We tried this restaurant for brunch since they featured various crepes on their menu and it is a favorite of mine and their crepes were outstanding. We looked into the dinner menu and decided to come back for dinner. Steve, the owner had Branzino Fish specially prepared for me and it exceeded any expectations. And the Ravioli that my husband had was great. And you can't beat their reasonable prices. And they have FREE valet parking! In New York, incredible !!! Thank you again for all the service and information that Elan of Great Kosher Restaurants provides. Keep up the great work! Rabbi & Meira Mendelson, Cleveland, Ohio.
