Teaneck is becoming New Jersey's kosher Mecca, and Sender's Smoke Joint is a must visit. Operated by co-owner Gabe Gilbert, the BBQ paradise is named after the founder-chef Alexander Remer, and the menu's innovative flavors make a Sender's meal unforgettable.
Sender’s Smoke Joint strives to bring something special to the kosher world. Street food meets kosher meat in all its blended, Americanized glory with flavors inspired by classic NY deli, southern smokehouse, Latin spices, and something that’s entirely, uniquely urban.
Sliced meats are served fresh from the smoker, or served in tacos and sandwiches, or atop meat pizzas, mac n cheez, and other dishes. Sender’s food is loaded with smokey, perfectly-spiced flavor.
You can’t go wrong with the perennial faves: Jenga Fries, Loaded Wings, Fuego Chili, Elote Corn on the Cob, and the Burnt End Potato Latkes (a year-round menu item, by popular demand)! Their Pulled Brisket Pie is tried and true, with its house BBQ sauce, caramelized onions, tumbleweed onions, and garlic aioli. Or check out their newest item, burnt ends baked beans. And let’s not neglect their OG Meat Pie, loaded with sausage, lamb, beef, salami, portobello mushrooms, cashew parm, and garlic aioli.
The Ziggy’s Sandwich is a Sender’s classic: crispy chicken, maple bourbon, pulled brisket, crispy onion, and beef bakon pieces. The Louisianian Super Spicy Sandwich brings some Latin flair with Papi Sazon sauce, and they even have vegetarian sandwiches like the Portobello Sandwich and Veggie Burrito for those who have Fear of Fleishig. For a healthier option, try their burrito bowls, offered as a lunch special and all day.

And then some dishes are elevated an extra step: like the Cherry Candy Short Ribs - smoked for six hours then braised, and infused with cherry liqueur and cherry beer, they have a fruit-and-tart flavor that you won’t find anywhere else!
Don't forget about the Smokehouse platter: One Half Smoked Chicken, Half Lb smoked pastrami, half lb smoked brisket, two corn bread muffins, one cherry candy short rib, half lb of Mac and cheese, coleslaw, pickles.
They also have a variety of house smoked beef jerkys, like Dr Pepper, Jalapeño, Asian ginger, Orange Chili, and beef Bakon.
Finish your meal with something sweet - there’s always room for dessert! In addition to Sender’s classics like the Cinnamando Donuts, try their beautiful Dessert Empanadas. Have you ever had meat dessert? The Beef Bakon Crack Pizza will make you a believer with maple brown-sugar glaze, cured smoked beef bakon, and tumbleweed onions.
Sender’s is also famous for its daily specials - like the chef’s soup, in flavors like mushroom-beef-barley and brisket-split-pea. No matter the weather, the warmth of Sender’s soups is always welcome!
There’s always something new cooking in the kitchen - you’ll have to keep coming back to see what’s next, like their in-works Breakfast Sandwich (fried chicken on a French toast bun… and the rest is a secret!).
Next time you’re on West Englewood, stop by and see why everyone is sending their love to Sender’s!
