ABOUT STREET Kitchen

Harding Avenue is the place to catch spectacular eats in Surfside, but there’s no place on that street like STREET Kitchen. Owner and chef David Benrey opened STREET in January of 2020.  He’s soft spoken, but his cooking is loud at this restaurant that specializes in unpretentious dishes you find on streets across the country.

STREET Kitchen is a study in culinary technique and love letter to food. Those who are familiar with Harbour Grill and Noma will recognize Benrey’s signature style in the kitchen, although STREET Kitchen is in a class of its own. With complete freedom of concept, Benrey has developed a melting pot of cuisines and culinary backgrounds - think Latin American, Asian, and American fusions - as can only be made possible by someone with attention to detail and deftness of technique.

While the food is from the street, the atmosphere is more natural, with wooden furniture and greenery hanging from the ceiling. The booths offer comfort, creating the perfect mix of casual and classy. The effortlessly casual ambiance will make you feel welcome from lunch to well into the night.

STREET Kitchen has a temperature and humidity-controlled cabinet where meats are aged for 28+ days, and guests are welcome to take a peek upon request. Their fryer produces fried chicken which diners have described as “perfection,” which is often served in one of their more popular appetizers; the chicken and waffles includes fried chicken thigh, waffle, watermelon and homemade maple chili syrup. Another popular appetizer is the Street Hummus, which is so much more than just hummus. It includes slow roasted lamb, sauteed onions and mushrooms. The dish is topped with dukkah and served with pita.

The aforementioned aged steaks include rib-eye, veal, lamb, and the fancy Truffle Filet, a center cut filet, served with homemade truffle bordelaise sauce, freshly shaved winter truffle and sauteed veggies. The chef’s specials are tender and slow cooked, like the braised beef cheeks, which are served with mashed potatoes and bok choy. For those interested in something from the sea, you have a choice of branzino or salmon. The salmon is pan-seared and served over beluga lentils, carrots, celery and potatoes STREET offers a wide array of side dishes such as fingerling potatoes, bok choy, and shaved truffle fries.

Chef David wants to take customers on a journey of his favorite bird, beef and fish dishes. So join the block party at STREET Kitchen.
