Come for the meat and stay for the pizza. That’s right, pizza. Opened in April of 2021 by Roman, Union Bistro pushed boundaries by preparing the sort of food one might expect at a dairy place with a fleishig twist. It’s all completely kosher, and it’s pizza with actual meat on top!
Its name is what it is: bistros are small, modest restaurants that serve heartier food. The casual waiter service establishment is nice enough for a date but comfortable enough for a family. It has a cozy atmosphere with its white-on-white table settings, wood accents, and soft yellow lighting. The food is a loose fusion - pelmeni, Rotolo, Israeli salad, and hummus platters - with a strong foundation in classic main dishes, specially curated by Chef Shimon Azoulay.
The chicken empanadas and short rib tacos are incredibly popular appetizers. Those who aren’t so into meat could opt for the roasted eggplant, the rustic split pea soup, or the country-style vegetable soup. There’s also a wide variety of salads and sides. Most will come for the meat, though, and boy does Union Bistro have that covered. Entrees span chicken, fish, and meat off the grill - something for everyone! Chicken with wild mushroom and red wine sauce is perfect for those who want an upscale yet light dish. Horseradish and mustard-crusted salmon with mango salsa should appeal to those who like a unique flavor. The meat-lovers would be wowed by the aged ribeye steak, Argentine short ribs, or the Tomahawk. Shish Kebabs and deli meats are also on the menu.

Chef Azoulay expertly prepares the pizzas. They range from the fan-favorite Rustik Pizza (topped with short rib, caramelized onion, mushrooms, and pickled vegetables) to the entirely Vegetarian Pizza (grilled seasonal vegetables, homemade pesto, and sundried basil). There are also a few pasta dishes on the menu for that pizza place feeling, such as the Mezza rigatoni bolognese and the house gnocchi. Quite a variety.
The parve citrus cheesecake looks good enough to be dairy, or the Kahlua chocolate truffle cake ends the meal on the right, sweet note.
Union Bistro has a private room with its own entrance for those who want to host events. They are also on three delivery apps. If you wish to enjoy your meat and pizza at home, in private, or in the cozy atmosphere of the Bistro, this place has you covered. With a menu like this, the only thing missing is you.
