ABOUT Cho-Sen Island

After a successful start in Queens, it made perfect sense for owner Neil Wallin to show the Long Island residents how good Chinese food can be. Since the year 1990 and still going strong, the restaurant has much to offer for your dining pleasure in their newly renovated dining room, as well as for special occasions in their spacious party room upstairs. Every detail from the moment you walk in the door to your final sip of tea has been considered and perfectly planned.

With cushioned seats and couches, the restaurant is relaxing and comfortable. Bright sunshine through glass windows lights up the restaurant during the day, while a more intimate feeling is captured at night. Cho-Sen Island has a full-service cocktail bar and a full sushi bar. The restaurant is popular in the Long Island community and is a must-stop for any local or visitor. Cho-Sen Island attributes its years of success to the winning combination of friendly, efficient service and superb food. The restaurant staff is led by General Manager Yunice Yam, who is always smiling and whether they’re busy or not, makes time for you. One thing that is always amazing to see, is when the staff sees you for the first time in the restaurant, they will always remember you and greet you with your name the next time you walk in. It’s something about that, that makes you feel so welcomed.

[continued above, right]

Regulars come at least once a week, as homage to the restaurant’s executive Chef Cheng’s delectable dishes. Barbecued Tenderloin Beef or Spring Rolls are two perfect appetizers with which to start the meal. All the entrees are generous in size with any of Chef Cheng’s Specialties a sure winner, especially the Peking Duck. Because of the personal service and clean environment, Cho-Sen Island is a great choice for a classy date, perfect for the entire family and ideal for business professionals to conduct their meetings.

Barbara Aug 16 2016 We have been eating at Chosen Island for years. The service is outstanding and so is the food, whether you eat in or take out. You are greeted like family when you walk in the door and throughout your whole experience. We drive from Brooklyn frequently. That should say it all.

The food at Cho Sen island was great and we especially appreciated that they were so accommodating to a gluten-free member of our group. She was able to order from the regular menu and they made sure to use gluten-free sauces and a clean wok, as well as letting her get a different soup than the regular lunch special soups.

Chosen Island is definitely one of the all time finest restaurants in our town. But remember, you MUST have a reservation especially on a Sunday night or you will have to wait. You can probably make a reservation through GKRM and avoid hanging around the front of the restaurant till a table becomes available. The dumplings are the best appetizer and you can order their peanut dipping sauce which is really the BEST!! They also have the best sushi and the best combination rolls. The lo meins are all awesome and we order it on Thursday nights as a side dish for Shabbos when I'm crunched for time.

Recently I went out on a date with my husband to Chosen Island in the five towns. The restaurant is beautifully laid out and accommodating to families. Our meal out introduced my husband and I to beef negamaki, which is scallions wrapped around beef. I normally don't like scallions, but this was delicious! We aso got sesame chicken which we normally order when we get Chinese food. That too was also delicious. Another dish that we tried was beef and broccoli which is another dish that we normally order. Once again, not only were we not disappointed, but we enjoyed it very much. I definitely recommend this restaurant. It is definitely worth the travel to Lawrence from Brooklyn despite potential traffic.

My grandchildren from Buffalo love this restaurant. It is the first place they visit when on Long Island. It is truly the best and the owners and staff are wonderful.
