Foodie that she is, Fran Lent had a vision for the brand new Lent Chabad Center: It would need an eatery, a place where community members visiting Chabad of the North Peninsula’s facility in San Mateo could meet for coffee before picking up their kids from preschool or fuel up on tasty treats during Torah study sessions. She turned that vision into Krembo, naming it after the beloved Israeli confection. The bakery is now officially open for business. Click here to view our Facebook post. Click here for the article.

A follow up to the kosher situation of the Royal Caribbean Spring/Summer/Fall cruises out of Haifa to Greece. Thank you Mendy Lipszyc for bringing it to our attention. I spoke to Rabbi Weberman over the weekend and here's some more info and background. As I have mentioned, Royal is all about customer feedback and evaluating the situation. It was their assessment that most people who have gone on these cruises have been ok with not having glatt and did not want to pay more. It was $20 a day for "regular" kosher (we can discuss the regular part) versus $60 a day for glatt kosher meals. Btw, I advise anyone who has questions about this or anything related to the Kashrus on cruises that Rabbi Weberman certifies, to please email him at: davidweberman@gmail.com.You have to understand this is not just a week-long cruise (like Yeshiva Week) but a 6 month period of several cruises going back and forth. However, that's not to say that one week out of the 6 months can't be glatt and that's something I want to see if I can work on. As we know, sales drive everything and if there's a demand, they may be ok with doing it for 1 week. These are the 2 summer sailings which I think are doable. 5 NIGHT GREEK ISLES CRUISE, Sailing from Fri, Jul 28 2023.
