About Burnt Offerings

Las Vegas kosher cuisine was primarily Mediterranean. Everyone likes a good Shwarma, but people need options, so in 2019, Burnt Offerings opened up, providing Yiddish cuisine to kosher diners in Vegas. Yiddish Cuisine, a term coined by owner Alexandra Emstov, is a European American mix. As they said in Fiddler on the Roof, it’s a little bit of this and a little bit of that, all wrapped up in tradition. Whether you’re a Jewish immigrant from the old country like Alexandra herself or grew up in the Jewish communities that span the nation, this food will taste like home.

You may have seen Alexandra on the Food Network’s Restaurant Impossible Season 17, Episode 12 Saving an American Dream; Robert Irvine worked with Alexandra and Head Chef Matthew Woertink to revamp the restaurant with new dishes and décor. The result is impressive, and the response has been great. People like the more open dining area. The place has a refreshing, tropical feel with a mix of cool greens, hanging overhead lights, and fans.

New dishes grace the menu, but they are familiar and comforting as ever. How many of us had Frank’s in Blanks at our bar mitzvahs? Chef Woertink revitalizes this classic appetizer by wrapping beef bacon and a puff pastry and serving it with truffle honey mustard dipping sauce. Meanwhile, dubbed “Jewish Penicillin,” what Jewish mother wouldn’t approve of this smoked chicken matzo ball noodle soup for Shabbos or to treat the common cold?

The menu also boasts Vegas’ best burgers, including the Hangover burger, which is served open-faced on a latke with a sunny side egg and beef bacon crumble. Another popular meat lovers’ dish is the tomahawk ribeye, sliced, sautéed, and USDA certified. Among the fish options on the menu, you’ll find the famous Salmon piccata, a fillet sautéed with spinach, capers, and lemon rice in a white wine reduction. A similar chicken dish is also available. Side dishes range from rice dishes, vegetable mixes, and different kinds of potatoes.

For dessert, diners may enjoy a chocolate-baked good or house-made non-dairy ice cream. There is also a full selection of wine, beer, and sake. A glass of red pairs perfectly with steak or burgers, while the white compliments fish dishes!

Recently, Burnt Offerings found a new way to offer their cuisine; they opened a food truck! Off-Road Offerings is just another way for Alexandra to bring Yiddish cuisine to the diners of Vegas. At the end of the day, wherever you hail from, we’re all Jews, and we all like good food.
