About Formaggio Mio SUMMER ONLY

Formaggio Mio in Loch Sheldrake brings a Mediterranean-inspired dairy experience to the heart of the Catskills' summer scene. Operating seasonally on Route 52, this kosher spot stands out for its café-style setting and a menu that’s casual and thoughtful. It elevates the standard bungalow-country fare with ease.

The menu offers something for nearly every part of the day, but it’s the lunch and dinner offerings that seem to leave the strongest impression. Their sourdough pizzas are classic and inventive, and other options like truffle Alfredo or a rich marinara stay simple but satisfying. The paninis are also a favorite, especially the Portobello version layered with garlic mushrooms, mozzarella, and feta, or a roasted vegetable take that leans into bright Mediterranean flavors.

There’s a steady lineup of seafood dishes as well, from oven-roasted salmon with mashed potatoes and string beans to a crisp, unfussy fish and chips served with a punchy aioli. Pasta dishes and risottos offer comfort without being overly heavy, and salads like the Nicoise or Israeli mix round things out.

Service is counter-style, and the atmosphere reflects the laid-back, seasonal rhythm of the area—sun-drenched seating, families on vacation, and a steady flow of regulars who know exactly what they’re coming back for. It’s the kind of place where you can drop in without a reservation, enjoy a meal that doesn’t feel rushed, and leave satisfied.

And for those who want to enjoy a view while they eat, Formaggio Mio brings outdoor seating on a deck with a great lake view that you'll be hard pressed to find in many other places.
