New Cow-Free Milk, Strive “FreeMilk” Hitting Shelves

People will remember the huge breakthrough made in Israel with the introduction of “Remilk”, the lab made milk. Through precision fermentation, Israeli scientists were able to replicate the milk proteins found in cows milk without the use of animals, giving them the first Dairy-free milk alternative that is identical to the real thing, available only in Israel.

Now, the people behind Strive reached out to me to get the word out about their all new cow-free milk called “FreeMilk”. They have just received kosher certification from the OU and are absolutely pareve. Similar to the Israel product, this derivative is concocted through precision fermentation that produces a pure whey protein found in cows milk without the use of a single cow. It is also a good source of protein, with 10g per serving.

For those who don’t know, Strive is a company that has been around for 40+ years, pioneering aseptic food processing to create high quality, delicious tasting foods using only natural ingredients without the need for preservatives.

It’s also important to note that with both products, anyone who is lactose intolerant can enjoy. However, since the protein in it is the same as that of cows milk, anyone with an allergy to the proteins in cows milk still cannot have it.

The 32oz cartons are certified Pareve by the OU and available currently on the strive website here, and will soon be in stores across the United States. However, the 48oz bottles that are currently available in the refrigerated section of close to 300 NYC grocery stores including Associated, Key Food, and Fine Fare, are certified as OU-DE (dairy equipment). The average price in NYC is between $4.99 and $5.99.
