About Mocha Burger
Everyone knows that Manhattan is full of kosher restaurants. But much to the chagrin of New York’s kosher diners, they’re mostly clumped in Midtown, the Upper West Side or even the Financial District. But what about SoHo, or the Village? Thankfully, Mocha Burger stepped up to fill the gap in these meccas of cool in New York City. The owners of Mocha Bleu in Teaneck opened this Godsend for NYU students in the summer of 2015 to much excitement, and the hype never really died down. The décor is an eclectic mix of Western meets modern NYC meets Old World European, but it all comes together very well. The long bench that runs the length of the restaurant gives each table a cozy, intimate feel. The exposed brick and hanging pendant lights assure you that you’re still in New York City, and you can bet that the food will meet all expectations that go along with that.
Start your meal with the Buffalo Lollies or Poutine Disco Fries, a pareve play on the Montreal classic, with meat gravy and mock mozzarella. The burgers, though, are obviously the star of the show. Try the BLT, with fried egg and smoked lamb bacon, or the Stuffed MB, a pastrami-stuffed jumbo burger. Any burger can be added to from their mouth-watering toppings list, including lamb bacon, BBQ pastrami, guacamole, fried crunchy onions, chili, and of course, a fried egg. Their various types of fries – regular, wasabi and Cajun – are the perfect side to their flavor burgers, which are all grilled to medium-well for optimal flavor.
Not wanting to limit the kosher scene in SoHo/NoHo/The Village to just burgers, they also have Steaks and other Sandwiches. Their mock-cocktails, such as the Blueberry Mojito or Strawberry Daiquiri are also a delicious treat. Wine and other alcoholic beverages are available as well. So the next time you’re ready to venture out below Midtown, be sure to stop by Mocha Burger!
