Cork & Slice (5 Towns)

Cork & Slice (5 Towns)

(516) 837-7788

Walk into Cork & Slice, and it's like you have just stepped into a five-star restaurant in the heart of Italy. Owners and brothers Ed Safaniev & Boris Safaniev wanted to open a restaurant that offered traditional yet innovative Italian cuisine. At the heart of it, Cork & Slice is an American fare restaurant, heavily influenced by Italian cuisine. Their Consulting Chef, Oscar Martinez has previously worked at The Old Homestead in NYC. He has also worked on the Northshore of Long Island at Hendricks, Bar Frites & Cipollini. He uses his fine culinary skills to compose exquisite dishes, using only the freshest, seasonal, high-quality ingredients, thus resulting in one of the most delicious Kosher Italian restaurants in Cedarhurst, Long Island.

The restaurant offers a rustic atmosphere, with its distressed wood tables, beautifully exposed brick walls and urban lighting. Diners can be seated at either the front of the restaurant or the bar, where they can watch the chefs at work, making homemade, fresh pizzas. They also have an upstairs dining room, with a modern fireplace included, that sits up to 70 people for extra seating and parties.

They are also open for breakfast from 7am-8am pastries and coffee (great for those looking to catch a train across the street) and 8am-11:45am, offering a full breakfast menu. The menu is family friendly and has something for adults and kids. They will also accommodate you if you want a plain omelette, no cilantro on the shakshuka, or whatever substitution you want.

The atmosphere feels homey and comfortable. Their food is at a sophisticated level where it's not pretentious but done with style and great home made ingredients.

Doma Land + Sea

Doma Land + Sea

516-881-7712

Doma Land + Sea is a chic, Modern American Steakhouse located in the heart of Cedarhurst on Long Island, NY. The globally-inspired restaurant showcases the finest cuts from the land and the freshest catches from the sea, while successfully extending extraordinary cuisine and superior service to an array of palates. Opened October 2017 by owners Boris and Edward Safaniev of Cork & Slice fame (which is located practically next door). The word “Doma” loosely translates in both Russian and Latin to “house or dwelling” and is evident in the design of the space. The layout follows this themes, as you enter a bar and open kitchen area with space devoted to a display of the days fresh fish and dry aged beef as well as some lively cocktails. There is also a room for special events, plus outdoor seating. Executive Chef Oscar Martinez, formerly of Butchers Bar and Grill, or the BBG in Williston Park, sweeps guests away on an epicurean adventure whilst manning the 81 inch Argentinian custom Grillworks Infierno wood grill. Consider starting your meal with the Southern-fried chicken drumettes with sweet-sour sauce, the braised smoky barbacoa beef brisket tacos, each balanced on a french-fry and share “The Big Dog” a foot long frank topped with chili, hot peppers and onions. For those preferring “Sea” refresh yourself with the “Painters Plate” and artfully arranged yellowfin tuna tartare, mango relish and taro chips or nibble on the Nantucket sliders or fried mahi mahi with spicy tahini aioli.

However the piece de resistance at Doma Land + Sea is the 42 ounce “Tomahawk chop”, a tennis racket of ribeye for two slice of the dinosaur sized bone. The 16-ounce chile rubbed Delmonico steak with its tenderness and beefy flavor is a great option. For those needing burgers you will not be disappointed with the juicy house burger with caramelized onions, chipotle ketchup and garlic aioli. Save space for dessert with such delicacies as the cotton candy tower, cloud of strawberry a yard high or the Mr. Greg’s Apple Toratada, a thai cinnamon ice-cream with lemon crumb surrounded by a caramel dome. Doma Land + Sea offers a brunch menu on Sundays between 11.30am-4pm with classics including chicken and waffles, crispy fried baby chicken on belgium waffles, huevos rancheros, dry cured chorizo, two fried eggs, patatas bravas and avocado tartine, multigrain toast, roasted pear tomato and crispy onions and of course mimosas!

For Juice Sake

For Juice Sake

(516) 682-2143

For Juice Sake has made quite the splash in the West Hempstead Foodie scene. First opening July of 2025 by local Rita Brown, "For Juice Sake" isn't just a luxury juice cafe, it's a lifestyle.

When you walk in, you can be greeted by Rita herself, an owner who is hands-on in all aspects of the healthy mindset being preached. The ambiance invites you to come and sit, or grab a fulfilling breakfast smoothie on your way to work or midday boost. It's all there in the name of keeping you happy, and more importantly, healthy. This is a sentiment that the community has rallied behind, throwing their support for Rita and For Juice Sake.

The concept is simple. Combining fresh flavors with healthy living. Serving an assortment of fresh pressed juices, smoothies, and bowls, everything is there to keep you balanced inside and out. Every blend is there to energize, detox, beautify, or heal.

For Juice Sake keeps things interesting, giving many of their drinks clever and fun names. On their "Stay Pressed" section of the menu, favorites include the No Heart Feelings (play on no hard feelings), containing carrots, apples, ginger, and lemon, as well as the Oh Cramp!, which contains Carrots, Ginger, Lemon, and Honey.

Moving to their Bowl'd & Blended section, smoothies like the Berry Lit! (strawberries, raspberries, bananas, chia seeds, and almond milk) and the Green Goddess (spinach, kale, pineapple, mango, peaches, passion fruit, lecithin powder, soy milk, and ice) are full of the nutrients you need to have you feeling good. And if you are looking for something very satisfying, their Acai Bowls like Golden Glow Bowl (Açaí base, pineapple, mango, blueberries, strawberries, bee pollen, granola, coconut chips, collagen, honey drizzle).

Balance continues with their Balanced Eats menu. You can enjoy a variety of different toasts with your drink to round out your healthy stop. Their Simply Avo Toast is a nice play on this generations favorite, and the Tuna Toast Supreme adds some extra protein to the mix. All of their toasts are done with 7-grain bread, keeping the healthy mindset down to the most minute detail.

The wellness served is never boring, it's bold. From their Pinking Out Loud blend created for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, to Pulp My Ride and No Probl-Flow, their November prostate prevention juices, they maintain a health-first mindset without sacrificing flavor.

Holy Schnitzel: Five Towns

(516) 374-HOLY (4659)

With a locations in Staten Island, Brooklyn, and the Five Towns, Holy Schnitzel manages to take the art of Schnitzel to the next level. With its American menu splashed with a touch of Mediterranean, you can't really go wrong. The chain was started by Ofeer Benaltaba and family, who after growing up in Staten Island felt kosher was missing this type of cuisine done right. What started off as a childhood joke, grew into a favorite menu with a name that can make anyone smile.

You are greeted with a modern, contemporary ambiance with the color schemes of a bright autumn day. Holy Schnitzel is a young, hip and fun restaurant where you have the opportunity to customize and build every meal to your liking. They make everything from scratch, and offer something for everyone. Sivan Benaltaba, the face behind the dishes, learned to cook the old fashioned way, in her own kitchen. She furthered her studies and received her Bachelors in restaurant management, and certification in Culinary Arts. Meanwhile, the restaurant offers a hearty array of items, from starters such as sesame or Buffalo chicken fingers, falafel, soups and hot dogs to a wide variety of salads, schnitzel, sandwiches, paninis, burgers, wraps and more.

Be sure to try some of their many signature dishes, including: "Cali Love" a baguette topped with grilled chicken, avocado, roasted eggplant, and a creamy pesto dressing; "The Big Sister" an Asian inspired baguette, includes panko breaded schnitzel with a sesame dressing, sauteed mushrooms and spicy peppers and "The Holy Toasty" consisting of corn flake battered schnitzel, grilled pastrami, and vegetables on flattened toasted baguette with "Holy Sauce" and honey mustard. For dessert, the Croissant Panini and home made Chocolate Cigars are highly recommended. They are open late during the week and offer delivery, so if you craving a snack after 9, you know who to call. They serve by their motto "Do everything from the heart, and give people what you would want. Give 110% with everything you do and serve, no cutting corners." Those are some “holy” words to live by. Amen.

Laffa Bar & Grill

Laffa Bar & Grill

(516) 341-0400

Located in Hewlett, New York, Laffa Bar & Grill brings together bold, comforting flavors from Middle Eastern and Central Asian and Mediterranean culinary traditions. First opening in January of 2019, the menu ranges from slow-cooked rice dishes to hand-formed dumplings and house-made laffa bread. The restaurant offers a distinctive dining experience that has earned it a loyal following in the Five Towns community.

Among the standout features of Laffa Bar’s menu is its commitment to traditional Central Asian dishes, particularly plov and bakhsh. Plov is a fragrant rice dish prepared with carrots, beef, and lamb, and Bakhsh offers a lighter variation, made with rice, cilantro, and finely diced beef. These dishes are not commonly found locally, giving Laffa Bar a unique place in the area's culinary landscape.

The appetizer menu builds on this regional focus with items like samsa—crispy pastries filled with seasoned ground beef—and manti, oversized dumplings that are generously stuffed with beef and onions. Soups also reflect this diversity, with options like Yemenite beef or chicken soup served alongside kubaneh (a traditional pull-apart bread), hilbeh (a fenugreek-based dip), and schug (a spicy herb condiment).

Laffa Bar doesn’t shy away from innovation either. The menu includes items like shawarma and brisket pizzas, combining familiar comfort foods with regional influences. These 10-inch pies offer something different without feeling gimmicky.

The restaurant is all about bold flavor and generous portions, which is often commented on by the guests that come. The popular Seasoned Meat Platter Boards feature premium grade Steaks, Lamb, Chicken, and Beef Skewers are always served in delicious combinations. For a group meal, they recommend one of the Meat and Chicken Board Platters. If you want your own plate, try one of the individual Rib Eye Steaks or Beef Skewers, which come with your choice of 2 sides.

Dishes are served with attention to detail, and the restaurant’s atmosphere is described as airy and relaxed, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. The staff is frequently noted for being upbeat and attentive to customer needs.

Open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and Friday until early afternoon, Laffa Bar also offers online ordering through its website for pickup and local delivery.

Prime Bistro

Prime Bistro

516-374-7772

When it opened in December 2011,Prime Bistro was not just the culmination of two years of meticulous construction by seven different designers, it was an extension of a family’s multi-generational history in the food business. The owner’s father was a butcher at Milo’s in Casablanca, in the French side of Morocco, where he served as large-scale supplier of fresh meat for the entire Jewish community. His mother is a seasoned chef. The family brought to America their experiences of great dining, particularly with charcuterie, or “the art of preparing meats”. The result? Prime Bistro: A butcher and a high-end French steakhouse.

Strategically situated on Central Avenue in Lawrence, NY, Prime Bistro is in the middle of an upscale Jewish neighborhood replete with many shopping options. A refined eating area and two private dining rooms (for 30 and 60 people - see photo to your right) welcome you to this world of luxury and serenity. The entrance leads to a full wood-paneled bar. Further inside, guests are seated on 1940s Thonet chairs, as well as elegant banquettes which line the antique white-and-mirrored walls. Iron work, lighted French globes and fresh flowers complete the look.

The foundation of the cuisine at Prime Bistro is a classic cooking technique paired with local ingredients. They serve prime meat with a dry aging process(they have an aging room on site) that makes the flesh tender and juicy; you’re more than welcome to take home some raw cuts from their butcher counter and cook it yourself. If you’re eating in, the Korean BBQ Lamb Ribs is a terrific option- as the meat literally falls off the bone. The Tuna Tartare is another delicious option for a fresh start to the meal. For main course it’s hard not to  recommend the prime rib for two, a celebratory event as the waiters bring out each layer of the dish. It features crunchy-on-the-outside roasted potatoes, earthy spinach and garlic, three kinds of sauce and a huge plate with a lineup of meat, mushrooms in gravy and deliciously battered onion rings. Whether you are there to dine, celebrate, or take home your favorite cut of meat, you’ll understand why it is called Prime Bistro.
