About Sunrise Pita & Grill (Sunrise)
The Best Pita Sandwich—Plus a Whole Lot More Boasting “The Best Pita Sandwich in the USA,” a claim with which their loyal customers agree, Sunrise Pita & Grill has been serving made-to-order traditional Israeli street food in the Ft. Lauderdale area for more than twenty-five years. Specializing in shawarma and falafel, the restaurant’s two locations also offer a wide variety of grilled meats, house-made salads and spreads, and even vegan and vegetarian options. Start with any of almost twenty appetizers (all but one of which, the meat-filled Samosas, are vegan); the fan-favorite Onion Rings are crispy golden perfection, while the minced onion and mushroom Kubbeh are a delightful vegan version of a Middle Eastern classic. Or, to try a few items at once, go for the Appetizer Combo, which includes the dough-wrapped mashed-potato Pastels, the Moroccan Cigars stuffed with spicy vegan soy, and the Mini Mushroom Empanadas. There are also traditional salad and spread options, including Tabouli, Babganush, and, of course, authentic, creamy Hummus. Next, it’s on to one of those famous Pita Sandwiches. In addition to the best-selling Falafel and chicken/lamb combination Shawarma, you can opt for Chicken or Lamb Shishkabab, Shnitzel, Young Chicken, minute roast Steak, or even Tuna. The Sunrise Mix combines Young Chicken and Kabab sautéed with onions and peppers. Or, skip the pita altogether and order a Plate of your favorite protein served with a variety of traditional salads. In addition to the sandwich protein options, you can even order a plate of one of two soy options: Vegan Shawarma or Vegan Teriyaki. There are also more than half a dozen Hummus Bowls, the same number of house-made Soups, and three different Burgers—traditional beef Classic or vegan Falafel or Beyond—to choose from, so there is definitely something for everyone. Just make sure to save room for some traditional Baklava or Tortit (vegan chocolate wafer with almond cream)! Whether dining in at either of the spacious and welcoming locations, ordering for takeout or free delivery, or even for catering, Sunrise Pita does not disappoint; you will know from the first bite why this place has been successful for more than a quarter-century already and is only getting busier each year. Both the Sunrise and Davie locations of Sunrise Pita & Grill are open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
