About TKO (Tacos Kosher Oy!)
Looking for a taste of Mexico in Teaneck? Now you can with TKO (Tacos Kosher, Oy). The restaurant might be new, having opened in December of 2025, but they have already become a favorite in the area.
The father and son duo of Jonathan and Jack Speiser (of Dougies Teaneck) have one philosophy when it comes to TKO. Anyone who comes in is invited into their home, and should be treated as such.
TKO has quite the unique name, but its source is simple. They just thought “How can we make kosher tacos good?”
So, they hired their head chef and he is part of the secret to their success. Born and raised in Oaxaca, Mexico, their chef has worked with Mexican restaurants for years, both in Mexico and in America. Now, in Teaneck, he is using that experience to make food that even Jonathan is shocked by how good it is. The chef loves talking to the Jewish Mexican patrons that come in, so if you are from there and speak Spanish, be sure to ask to talk to Miguel.
The hardest part for the father-son duo is getting people to get a little bit out of their comfort zone. It’s when people try the new things that Jonathan and Jack know they have done a good job. To the point that they still distinctly remember one instance where they encouraged a woman to try their chicken fajita, and her face lit up when she tasted it!
All the food is prepared to suit a variety of palates, but those who enjoy flavors a bit more caliente are encouraged to let the staff know. The dishes can be spiced up more with their own homemade hot sauce. It’s a special touch not found at just any restaurant.
As expected from a Mexican restaurant, they have plenty of Mexican dishes. Their Empanadas and burritos are frequently ordered, but it’s the unique variations of the Mexican classics that shine. Specifically, their Pineapple Chicken Tacos and Biria Tacos come through for the adventurous ones in the family.
What’s unexpected from them is their Mediterranean influenced crossover dishes. They just introduced their Mexican Challah Sandwich, served with homemade Matbucha, and the creativity doesn’t end there. Their Shawarma Tacos and Falafel Burrito provide that Israeli flavor that you wouldn’t expect from a place like this.
TKO is constantly evolving, with the recent additions being meat pizzas on Thursday night and their Shabbos-in-a-Box special. Outdoor seating is also available with lights and music when the weather is nice. Whether inside or out, enjoy the fiesta.
