About Chimichurri Charcoal Chicken(Carle Pl)
Since its opening in 2015, Chimichurri Charcoal Kitchen has become a Cedarhurst staple, and for good reason. The Portuguese barbecue restaurant is a haven for chicken lovers as it offers authentic Portuguese-style of barbecuing over an open pit fire. Now, after much success in the Five Towns, they’ve expanded their operations with a new location in Carle Place.
The restaurant prides itself on keeping it simple. They always use fresh chicken, never frozen, and by adding a little spice and oil, the open charcoal flames finish the job. The final product is a succulent, juicy, and delicious add-on to dishes such as the perennial favorite Portuguese Rice Bowl, where the namesake charcoal chicken rests atop a bed of fresh pico de gallo, avocado, grilled corn, black beans, roasted red peppers, warm Spanish rice, and the house chimichurri sauce. The charcoal chicken can also be served in a wrap, such as the Chimichurri Wrap, served with lettuce, pico de gallo, and avocado-mango salsa, or an embrulho, or Portuguese burrito, filled with rice, beans, pico de gallo, and a creamy cilantro lime sauce. Of course, the namesake Charcoal Chicken can also stand alone, and can be ordered in pieces or as a whole chicken, as can Chimichurri’s famous Southern Fried Chicken.
While the food at Chimichurri Charcoal Kitchen is held in high acclaim, its owner is known to be equally popular. Tzvi "Tzvika" Ben Yosef, has been described by diners as a “genuinely nice guy” who greets his customers warmly as they walk in. It’s no coincidence that many know him by name and consider him a friend. Judging by the sheer likeability of the place, it is a good thing that Chimichurri has expanded into the neighboring storefront, so that there is plenty of more space to sit, relax and enjoy.
